Chiquis reveals sadness over miscarriage – Music News
Chiquis, who is on tour in support of her latest album, suffered a miscarriage while preparing for a concert over the weekend.
The singer has yet to go public with the pregnancy news, but told fans in an Instagram update that a miscarriage was the reason she had to postpone her planned concert in Albuquerque, New Mexico on Saturday night.
It was only the second day of her Diamantes tour.
“To my fans in Albuquerque,” she wrote in an emotional message posted in English and Spanish, “It is with a heavy heart that I announce that last night's concert has been postponed due to a medical emergency that has made it physically and mentally impossible for me to be onstage.”
“I had a miscarriage while I was at the venue getting ready for the show.”
She added, “I apologize for the inconvenience. I promise we will reschedule as soon as possible and validate your tickets. Your understanding means a lot to me. The doctor says I can continue the tour on June 7th, 8th and 9th, which are my next Texas dates.”
The Latin Grammy-winning artist, who won Best Band Album for both “Playlist” (2020) and “Abeja Reina” (2022), described his tour as “a celebration of empowerment, self-expression and unity.”
Chiquis, whose full name is Janie Marin Rivera, became engaged to her photographer partner Emilio Sanchez a year ago.
She is the eldest daughter of singer Jenni Rivera.
