Calling all suffering poets! This week's new music roundup is full of powerful songs.
Taylor Swift's long-awaited 11th studio album, The Tortured Poets Department, was released in the form of a surprise double album on Friday (April 19). The album features two major collaborations: Post Malone, whose name is on the lead single “Fortnite,” and song number eight Florence + the Machine, “Florida!!!” Swift. described the project on Instagram as “an anthology of new works reflecting events, opinions, and emotions in fleeting, fatalistic moments that are sensational and equally sad.” This period of the author's life has already ended, the chapter is closed and covered with a board. There is nothing to take revenge on, no scores to settle once the wounds have healed. Upon further reflection, I realized that a significant number of them were self-inflicted. This writer firmly believes that our tears become sacred in the form of ink on a page. Once we tell our saddest stories, we are freed from them. ”
In the hip-hop world, Nicki Minaj has tapped the star-studded trio of Travis Scott, Chris Brown and Sexy Red to be part of her FTCU (Sleaze Mix). In his 18th week on the Hot 100, “FTCU” remains at No. 79 after peaking at No. 15. The Pink Friday 2 track should push up the charts thanks to its “Sleeze Mix.”
