A London music festival due to take place in less than a month has been canceled after record rainfall caused safety concerns.
We Are FSTVL was scheduled for the weekend of May 25th and was scheduled to be headlined by drum and bass duo Chase & Status and Swedish DJ Eric Prydz at Dagenham's Central Park.
Organizers announced on social media that they deeply regret the event's cancellation after Barking and Dagenham City Council said it was not possible to hold the festival safely in Central Park. .
We Are FTVL organizers said on X/Twitter that they were “devastated” that the festival had to be canceled for reasons beyond their control.
The team behind the event claimed they had put in “detailed planning” and invested “time and money” into improvements from previous years, including a new stage and art installations.
“Sadly, just days before we were due to begin construction on site, the London Boroughs of Barking and Dagenham were asked to create a fit-for-purpose and safe event space to enable the staging of We Are FTVL 2024. ” they explained.
“We are saddened by this decision.”

Barking and Dagenham City Council announced in a press release on Monday that the festival had been canceled “due to health and safety concerns” following “record rainfall”.
“[The council’s] “Following this year's record rainfall, a recent evaluation of Central Park found that the location could not safely accommodate the physical demands of We Are FTVL's equipment and audience,” the statement reads. It's dark.
“We apologize for the inconvenience.”
Ticket holders immediately took to social media to express their disappointment. One user wrote on X/Twitter: “Disappointing, imagine canceling Glastonbury on health and safety grounds due to record rainfall!! Sort out the London boroughs of Barking and Dagenham!

We Are FSTVL was the focus of safety concerns in 2019 after an incident in which a festival attendee “collapsed” after lining up for three hours in the sun as crowds passed through security gates. Ta.
“I didn't have my drink token wristband with me when I was letting people through because I lost my wristband at the door,” the woman told Radio 1 Newsbeat.
“They weren't handing out water, so everyone who was in line for three hours didn't have a drink.”
