Usher will be receiving the BET Award for Lifetime Achievement.
The 45-year-old star will be honored for his achievements at the BET Awards, which will be held at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles on June 30.
“BET's relationship with Usher spans decades, from his multiple appearances on 106 and Park to his most recent award for Entertainer of the Year at the 55th NAACP Image Awards,” said Connie Orlando, BET's vice president of specials, music programming and music strategy.
“From his chart-topping hits, electrifying performances and unforgettable voice to his distinctive moves and sound, Usher continues to stand out in culture and set new standards in the music industry and for Black excellence.
“We look forward to putting together an incredible lineup that pays tribute to our global icons.”
Previous recipients include Whitney Houston, Prince, Queen Latifah, Mary J. Blige, Samuel Jackson and Lionel Richie.
Usher performed at the Super Bowl halftime show in Las Vegas earlier this year, and the chart-topping star admitted it was one of the highlights of his career.
The singer explained that she wanted to create a memorable performance for her fans.
“It has to be perfect,” he told Vogue ahead of the event.
“I've been doing this for 30 years, and I want everyone who's been a part of this journey, from the beginning to this moment, to feel like this is a celebration for everyone, for all of us.”
Usher also wanted fans to feel “hopeful” after seeing his performance.
He said: “People are tuning in to watch the football game, but hopefully they'll see the half-time performance and take something comforting home with them.”
“Something that gives people a sense of hope, that allows them to not only look back at the past, but to be hopeful for the future and hopeful for a different type of future than what we see today.”
