The Dominican artist (real name: Toquixa Altagracia Peralta) has partnered with manager (and SOL co-founder) Angélica Pichet within WML and will be releasing her own music and signing new artists under a new deal supported by Atlantic Records.
“We're thrilled to launch SOL, a label that will serve as a home for misunderstood artists,” Pichet, the project's head of development, said in a statement. “Giving a voice and a space to people like us who started from the ground up is incredibly important to us.”
Both the WML and Atlantic teams are excited to be part of this new era of Tokisha's career.
“She is an artist who represents counterculture at its highest and finest expression, and we are honored to expand her global influence and support her boundless creative vision,” added Warner Bros.' Alejandro Duque, Roberto Andrade Dirac and Natalie Cotton.
“Toxia is a one-of-a-kind artist,” note The Atlantic's Julie Greenwald and Craig Kalman, “and we couldn't be more excited to be a part of the next chapter of her career and to work with Angelica, Alejandro and the entire team.”
Since launching his music career in 2018, the 28-year-old artist has shone with his innovative and uncompromising music, propelling the Dominican Republic's vibrant local underground scene known as “El Bajo Mundo” to the forefront.
“For me, I feel free when I can be myself,” she previously shared during her Women on the Rise panel at Billboard Latin Music Week in 2022. “For me, freedom is feeling comfortable and feeling like yourself in your surroundings and what you're doing. It's feeling special and loved. Because one of the steps to freedom is self-love, and once you love yourself, understand yourself, know yourself, and know what you need, then you know where to walk and how to act.”
According to a press statement, with this new partnership, Warner Music Latina, together with its international team and record label, aims to introduce Toxá's “music to new audiences, expand her presence in different countries and cultures, and ultimately establish her as a true global star.”
