The Black Keys cancel US tour – Music News

The Black Keys have explained why they canceled their North American tour.

The duo of Patrick Carney and Dan Auerbach quietly canceled their 31-date North American tour as part of the International Players Tour, which was scheduled to begin on September 17 in Tulsa, Oklahoma.

After the cancellation of the shows was highly publicized over the weekend, the musicians took to Instagram to explain the reasoning behind their decision.

“The band wants to assure everyone that Dan and Patrick are alive and well,” they wrote on Sunday.

He did not address reports of poor ticket sales but suggested the venue would be changed from an arena to a more intimate venue.

The band continued, “Following a recent string of shows across the UK and Europe, including iconic venues such as Brixton Academy and Zenith in Paris, we've decided to make some changes to the North American leg of our International Players Tour to ensure we can create an exciting, intimate experience for fans and band alike. We will be announcing revised dates in the coming days.”

The company told ticket holders they would be fully refunded and would be first to buy tickets when sales for the new dates open.

“We appreciate your understanding and apologies for the sudden change,” the post concluded, “but we think you'll be excited to know what we're thinking and we look forward to seeing you all soon.”

The two just finished a European tour in mid-May.
