Taylor Swift's new album, The Tortured Poets Department, dominated new music discussions this past weekend, breaking Spotify's single-day streaming record of 300 million and selling on CD, vinyl, cassette, and digital download on its first day of release. It sold 1.4 million copies. Released (April 19th).

Of the album's lead track “Fortnite,” which features Post Malone, she said: “'Fortnite' is a song that exemplifies many of the common themes that run throughout the album. One of them is fatalism – longing, obsession, lost dreams. It's a very dramatic line about life and death. I think this album is very fatalistic in that there's a lot of “I love you, it's ruining my life.” These are very pretentious and dramatic ways of saying things. This is such an album. ”
Swift also revealed that her collaboration song with Florence and the Machine, “Florida!!!”, came about after witnessing reports that criminals often flock to the Sunshine State to disappear. I admit it.
“I watch Dateline all the time,” she says. Where will they soon leave the city and go? They go to Florida. They reinvent themselves, take on new identities, and try to fit in. When you experience heartbreak, you may think somewhere in your heart that you want a new name. I want a new life. I don't want anyone to know where I've been or anything about me at all. ” And that was the starting point. Where do you go to reinvent yourself and fit in? Florida! ”
