Taylor Swift has been praised by fellow singers for saving a life during a house fire.
Singer-songwriter Gracie Abrams, 24, was at Taylor's home in New York's TriBeCa neighborhood when the tragedy occurred earlier this year.
As the pair enjoyed dinner and plenty of drinks, a sound of something falling was heard at the chart superstar's home, but the noise was dismissed as being caused by one of Taylor's cats.
The pair continued drinking and were surprised to discover the kitchen was on the verge of fire in the early hours of the next morning.
Remembering the terrifying moment and Taylor's quick action, Gracie told Billboard, “She was a legend. I don't know how she knew what to do at a time like this, in a state like this.”
She added: “We both had terrible coughs for weeks because of the fumes from the fire extinguisher.”
Gracie will support Taylor on the 2023 dates of her ongoing Eras Tour and will release her second album, The Secret of Us, later this month.
The album includes a song called “Us,” which features vocals from Taylor, and the pair had just finished writing the song when the fire was discovered.
Gracie recalled that the song's writing process was spontaneous and seemingly effortless, saying, “Something just caught our ears so strongly and so quickly at the same time, so we ran over to the piano and started writing this song…I used to daydream about stuff like that as a kid.”
