If you're like me, you experienced FOMO (fear of missing out) after Shane Smith & the Saints played at Red Rocks last night.
After a magical headline set at the Morrison, Colorado venue last year and the release of the critically acclaimed albums 'Norther' and 'Live At Red Rocks', last night's amphitheater audience was in for something special. It was.
Needless to say, they were joined by the men of 49 Winchester for a night filled with surreal country music.
Ahead of the concert, the Austin, Texas band shared on social media that they would be offering a free livestream of the show through their YouTube channel.
But then again, if you're like me, you're probably in bed by 8pm. That means the livestream probably happened while I was in my first REM sleep cycle. Thankfully, for those of us who aren't night owls, Shane Smith and the Saints left a live stream on their channel so I could continue to enjoy myself.
While nothing compares to physically attending a show, this live stream of the set will keep fans separated until they can catch the next show. The live stream camerawork captures how excited the audience was throughout the two-hour set.
But one of the best pieces of information revealed during the show was that Shane Smith and the Saints have plans to host their own music festival in Stanley, Idaho.
“So we spent many years of our twenties playing in the Pacific Northwest, places like Montana and Idaho. We're proud to announce that we're actually hosting the first-ever music festival. We're hosting our own music festival this summer, which we're announcing now in Stanley, Idaho.
If you'd like to come join us in Sawtooth Valley this weekend, July 13th, we'd love to see you. ”
Frontman Shane Smith tells the Colorado crowd before launching into “Mountain Girl.”
I don't know about you, but I know what I want to do on July 13th. If you want to hear it from the horse's mouth, Smith shares this news around the 22 minute mark. However, the entire Red Rocks set is worth seeing.
Talk about an outrageous announcement made during an already monumental show.
