Selena Gomez has spoken out about her desire to grow a family, explaining that she planned to be a single parent before she found love.
The 31-year-old American singer and actress had planned to adopt the child and raise him as a single mother, but hinted that her budding romance with Benny Blanco may have changed that.
She has been dating 36-year-old music producer Benny since last year, but says she was “quite used to” single life before falling for him.
She told Time magazine, “I was single for five years and I got used to it. A lot of people are scared of being single, and I think I was single and tortured myself in my own head for about two years, but then I kind of accepted it and made a plan to adopt at age 35 if I never met anyone.”
During a recent interview with Benny and talk show favorite Howard Stern, Selena spoke about her hopes of starting a family with him one day.
The “Hands To Myself” singer said, “He can't lie for his life. If he's asked a question, he'll answer.”
She shed light on their romance, adding, “I know what people will do to the people they love. My fans, whom I adore and feel have shaped who I am today, will say the most hurtful things about the way I live my life. But he has the strength to not be shaken by such fuss.”
“It's truly emotional and I'm cherishing every moment I spend with him. I don't know what the future holds, but I know he's not going anywhere anytime soon.”
