What's more rock and roll than American Idol? Well, there are a few things, but on Sunday's (April 21) episode of the long-running singing competition series, Ryan Seacrest and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductee Lionel Richie will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2024 The artists who make up the graduates have been revealed. It featured the remaining 12 contestants singing classics by previous Rock Hall Hall of Fame inductees. )

Queen of hip-hop soul Mary J. Blige, pop icon Cher, roots rock jam band Dave Matthews Band, stadium rock hitmaker Foreigner, and guitar pro Peter Frampton. , funky R&B legends Kool & the Gang, metal god Ozzy Osbourne, and alternative hip. Hop's forebears, A Tribe Called Quest, are all inducted into this year's Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in the Performers category.
But even more people will actually be inducted into the Rock Hall when the ceremony takes place on October 19th at Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio. Three guitar-playing blues pioneers will be selected in the Musical Influence category. The late Alexis Corner, one of the founders of British blues. John Mayall, a 90-year-old blues-rock legend, whose band John Mayall & the Bluesbreakers became some of the biggest names in rock history. And “Big Mama” Thornton was an R&B pioneer whose big personality, guitar tone, and sassy vocals helped shape early rock and roll.
Four more artists will be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for excellence in music. Jimmy Buffett was the standard-bearer for laid-back good-time rock until his death last September. MC5, a proto-punk outfit with a brand of political agitation. Dionne Warwick is an elegant and sophisticated pop hitmaker. and Motown sound songwriter and producer Norman Whitfield.
And finally, the Ahmet Ertegun Award will be presented to Suzanne de Passe, the former Motown executive who brought the Jackson 5 to Berry Gordy and directed numerous music-related television specials.
The Rock and Roll Hall of Fame's 2024 ceremony will be streamed live on Disney+ on October 19th, available on Hulu the next day, and broadcast on ABC in an edited format at a later date.
