President Trump addresses fears of retaliation

Former President Trump told Fox News on Wednesday that criticism that he is seeking retribution against political opponents is “wrong” but that he has the “full right” to go after his enemies if he is re-elected in November.

Following his conviction last week in New York v. Trump on 34 counts of falsifying business records, President Trump spoke to Fox News host Sean Hannity about the state of the country and his own political career.

Hannity asked the former president what he would say to people who believe that if he were to return to the White House in 2025, he would seek retribution and use the justice system to go after his political opponents.

“Number one, they're wrong,” Trump responded. “It has to stop, or we don't have a country. Look, once this election is over, I'll be well within my rights to go after them based on what they've done. It's simple, because we see Joe Biden, we see all of the criminal activity, we see the family and all of the money flowing to him, all of this money from China, Russia, Ukraine.”

The House Oversight and Accountability Committee has alleged that the Biden family and associates received millions of dollars from foreign entities, including countries like China, Ukraine and Romania, while Biden was vice president.

“The Biden family deliberately tried to conceal, confuse and hide their scheme to abuse their power, but the bank records don't lie. The Biden family made millions of dollars from foreigners who likely provided no services other than access and influence. Thousands of records obtained to date show that the Biden family founded more than a dozen companies while Joe Biden was Vice President,” stated a press release issued by the office of House Oversight Committee Chairman James Comer in May 2023.

Biden's brother, James, testified earlier this year that the president had “no involvement whatsoever” in the family's business dealings, and White House spokesman for oversight and investigations Ian Sams told MSNBC last year that there was “no evidence of wrongdoing” as House Republicans have alleged.

Trump said he doesn't want to do what Democrats have done to Republicans.

“They want to arrest someone for nothing. They want to arrest someone who won the nomination by an overwhelming margin,” he told Hannity.

“If they continue to do what they're doing to me, there will be very little left in this country. This is literally a weaponization. Some call it a war on the law, some call it just a war, but this is a weaponization of an election,” the 2024 Republican front-runner added.
