Oasis never reformed, instead releasing Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition).
Due for release on August 30th, the same date as the landmark 1994 LP, the new format features abandoned tracks from the original recording sessions at Monnow Valley Studios, as well as outtakes recorded at Sawmills Studios in Cornwall, and has been newly mixed for the first time by former guitarist and chief songwriter Noel Gallagher and Callum Mariño.
Another treat is frontman Liam Gallagher singing a demo version of “Sad Song,” which was a bonus track on the original album.
Fans can also read new liner notes by Creation Records boss Alan McGee and journalist Hamish McBain, who discovered the Britpop legend and offered to sign him on the spot.
The Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition) album is available for pre-order now in limited edition Deluxe 4LP and Deluxe 2CD formats, as well as limited edition colored vinyl (a blue and white marble 2LP inspired by the lyrics of “Learning to fly” from Up In The Sky and a pink and white marble 2LP inspired by the lyrics of “Strawberries and cream” from Digsy's Dinner). It is also available on limited edition blue cassette and digital formats. All formats include the 2014 remastered version of the album.
The “Definitely Maybe (30th Anniversary Deluxe Edition)” format will be released by Big Brother Recordings on August 30, 2024. Join the celebration with #Defmaybe30.
The disbanded band's Instagram account posted a video from Sawmills Studios this week, leading fans to speculate that a reunion could be on the way or that it could have something to do with the milestone.
The cryptic video was uncaptioned and sparked rumors.
Liam has been at odds with his brother Noel, 56, since the pair argued backstage at his final concert in Paris in 2009, but he is also due to embark on his sold-out 30th anniversary tour of Definitely Maybe next month.
Liam said his estranged brother had turned down an offer to reunite with him on the trip.
When a fan asked if Noel would be taking part, Liam replied: “He was asked but he turned it down.”
The 51-year-old rock and roll star will perform alongside Oasis guitarist Paul “Bonehead” Arthurs, 58, at the arena show, as he has done at many of his solo shows.
The tour kicks off in Sheffield on June 2nd and will go on to London, Cardiff, Glasgow and Dublin.
He'll be performing hits like “Live Forever,” “Cigarettes and Alcohol” and “Supersonic,” as well as fan favorites “Whatever,” “Fade Away,” “Listen Up” and his own version of “Sad Song.”
Meanwhile, Noel recently suggested he'd be interested in hosting an Oasis hologram show after being impressed by ABBA's lucrative 'ABBA Voyage' extravaganza.
