After years of hinting at the impending release of her debut album, Dopamine, featuring collaborations with Gunna, Cardi B and James Blake, was released on Friday (June 14) by RCA Records. Led by singles “Wild Side” with Cardi B and “1:59” with Gunna, the 13-track album marks the 28-year-old New Orleans singer's final entry into the fray after years on the sidelines.
“I'm just so grateful that people are still so excited about this album and this body of work. I never take it for granted that people have been waiting for me,” Normani told Billboard News' Tetris Kelly.
Since launching her solo career, Normani has charted on the Billboard Hot 100 four times, with “Love Lies” with Khalid and “Dancing With A Stranger” with Sam Smith each reaching the top 10. Her 2021 lead single “Wild Side” featuring Cardi B also charted, peaking at No. 14 and staying on the chart for 20 weeks.
Coming in behind Dopamine in this week's poll is NxWorries' sophomore album, Why Lawd?, with 8% of the vote. NxWorries is the super duo made up of R&B critic favorite Anderson .Paak and popular underground hip hop producer Knxwledge.
