Fox News contributor Newt Gingrich warned that President Biden has “lost support” with black voters after a CNN data reporter admitted he was “speechless” about polls that showed Trump could garner “historic” support. The former Republican House speaker appeared on “Hannity” on Monday to explain why he thinks Democrats will have a hard time countering this new “reality” ahead of November.

Newt Gingrich: First of all, I don't think we should assume that black Americans are stupid, insensitive, or incapable of learning. They see the unaffordable grocery store prices and they know it's Biden's fault. They see millions of illegal immigrants coming into their neighborhoods, taking their jobs and threatening their families with violence and they know it's Biden's fault. Conversely, they know that despite the money we've poured into teachers unions, the measures aren't working and they know that Democrats are to blame. They look at the big cities and see one Democratic mayor after another corrupt, incompetent, and unable to serve their interests. So what you're starting to see is a movement that says, “Let's give Donald Trump a try, what do we have to lose?”

I think Trump will get more votes than any Republican since Eisenhower, and may actually surpass Eisenhower, because I think all the momentum over the next four months is in Trump's favor. [percent among Black voters] And people are saying, “That was nice,” but Biden collapsed. The number of black Democrats, and for that matter, Latino Democrats who are currently undecided and may switch to Trump is staggering. That's why we're starting to see Trump lead by four points in places like Minnesota. If he wins Minnesota by any margin, it's the cusp of Ronald Reagan crushing Jimmy Carter in 1980, and I have little idea how Democrats can make up for that reality.
Black voters reject Biden as support dwindles ahead of 2024: 'Everything was better under Trump'

CNN data reporter Harry Enten was stunned on Monday when he found that polls showed former President Trump was projected to garner significant support from black voters.
A compilation of network polls shows that interest in Biden as a president has dwindled among Black voters, dropping from 86% in 2020 to 70% in 2024. Meanwhile, Trump has chipped away at Biden's base, tripling his support among Black voters over the past four years, from 7% in 2020 to 21% in 2024.
“I continue to look for signs that this is going back to normal, but the polls are not showing it yet,” Enten said. “Instead, we are on the cusp of a historic performance the likes of which we haven't seen from a Republican presidential candidate in 60 years.”
Enten noted that Biden has seen a slight decline in support among black voters over the age of 50. But the current president's approval rating among black voters under 50 has plummeted, falling from 80 points in 2020 to just 37 points in 2024.
“I've never seen anything like this before. I'm speechless,” Enten said.
Enten said in late May that Trump's growing support among Black voters was a “huge wake-up call” for Biden's reelection campaign. Disregarding voting trends from 2020, he said, the increase in Black support would help Trump win with 291 electoral votes in 2024.
A USA Today/Suffolk University poll released Sunday found that support for Biden among black voters in both Michigan and Pennsylvania has fallen by about 20 percentage points since the last election. In Michigan, Biden received the support of 54 percent of black voters, compared with 15 percent for Trump.
Trump won just 9% of Michigan's black vote in the 2020 election.
The poll found the former president won 11% of the black vote in Pennsylvania, a three-point increase from 2020. A majority of black voters in the state, 56%, still support Biden.
According to the latest Fox News poll, Biden has the support of 72% of black voters, up from 66% in February but down from 79% before the 2020 election. Trump has a slight lead over Biden among voters overall.
