New York v. Trump trial resumes with witness testimony

This is an excerpt from an opinion piece by FOX News contributor Liz Peek

Will Donald Trump be able to defeat Joe Biden in November despite being fenced off and locked in court by what he calls an ongoing “witch hunt”? ? It's not easy. The polls have tightened in recent weeks, perhaps because Biden is on the campaign trail gleefully funneling taxpayer money to voters in battleground states and bashing his opponents, but Trump isn't.

Instead, Trump is once again on trial in New York City.

His enemies in the liberal media are delighted. It's not because Trump committed a heinous crime that he will be put on trial. Not because convicting the former president will somehow improve the lives of New Yorkers, or all Americans. No, the leftist media is gleeful because they want to see the Donald humiliated, undermined, and subjugated.

For proof, look no further than Maggie Haberman's recent front page article in the New York Times. The Times reporter is almost blinded.

Haberman, a longtime Trump adversary, described the scene in the “decrepit” courtroom of Democratic donor Judge Juan Machan, who is presiding over the hush-money trial brought by Manhattan prosecutor Alvin Bragg. Later that day, the former president got up and got ready to go home, when Marchand ordered him to “take a seat.” boom! Haberman is enthused, noting that Trump is “used to dictating his own pace” and suddenly “has control taken away from him.”

Haberman said the real estate mogul was “haggard and shriveled” by the end of the day. “The mediocrity of the courtroom has consumed Mr. Trump,” Magee wrote, dispelling the image of a “great man” he had sought for years.

This is honey for Trump opponents. After all, Gallup reports that only 38% of voters see President Biden as a “strong and decisive leader,” while 57% believe President Trump has those qualities. It is said that there is. They hope Mr. Bragg's show trial will resolve that rift.
