Elton John will premiere a new documentary at the Toronto Film Festival in September.
The film, “Elton John: Never Too Late,” follows his final tour, The Farewell Yellow Brick Road Tour, which took place last year.
It became the first tour to gross more than $900 million (£708 million).
The documentary promises to “peek inside” the superstar's life and includes “his never-before-seen concert footage from the past 50 years, handwritten diaries, and present-day footage of him and his family.”
The album will also feature the band's final shows in the United States, including their “final North American performance at Dodger Stadium in November.”
The film is co-directed by RJ Cutler and Elton's husband, David Furnish.
The Farewell Yellow Brick Road tour began in 2018 and was meant to finish in 2021. However, due to COVID-19, the tour lasted five years. The tour eventually ended in July 2023, with the 76-year-old playing his final show in Stockholm.
“When I set off on my final tour in 2018, I could never have imagined in my wildest dreams the twists, ups and downs that this tour, and the world at large, would experience over the next five years,” he later said.
“I'm trying to accept it now, but it will be a while before it sinks in that the tour is finally over. Words cannot express how much I will miss my fans and how touched I am by their support. It will stay with me forever.”
Since finishing his tour, Elton has been focusing on his work with his charity, the Elton John AIDS Foundation.
The documentary will premiere in Toronto before airing on Disney+ later this year.
