A photographer who once worked with the singer has filed a lawsuit against the singer, citing harassment and other workplace-related claims.
Emilio Garcia worked as the rapper's photographer from 2018 to 2023. He filed a complaint Tuesday in Los Angeles County Superior Court against Megan Thee Stallion (real name Megan Peet) and her companies, Megan Thee Stallion Entertainment Inc. and Hot Girl Touring Inc. , LLC, and Roc Nation. The lawsuit includes nine labor law violations, including harassment and a hostile work environment.
Garcia alleges that Stallion had sex with her in a moving car while he was on tour in Spain in June 2022, unable to get out of his car. The complaint says Garcia “remained confused, mortified, and offended throughout the entire ordeal.”
The day after the incident, the case continues, Stallion asked if Garcia was in the car, and when he confirmed he was, Garcia replied, “Never talk about what you saw.'' ” he is said to have said.
On the same trip, Garcia also claims the rap star called her a “fat bitch” for being fat and eating too much and accused Garcia of “spitting out your food.”
The complaint also alleges that Mr. Garcia was unfairly compensated, misclassified as an independent contractor, and deprived of medical and overtime pay during his employment. They also claim they were routinely denied breaks for rest and meals.
In August 2022, Roc Nation's CEO changed Garcia's compensation structure from $4,000 per month to a pay-per-task system. As a result, Garcia ended up working for her girlfriend, whose “income was significantly reduced because her billing did not accurately reflect the time she actually spent and the effort she put in.” says the complaint.
Garcia's lawsuit also alleges that Stallion told her she could not work for anyone else and required her to be available for Garcia 24/7 while on tour. Garcia's contract was terminated in 2023, which he claims was retaliation for his complaints of harassment and failure to pay properly.
“Plaintiffs struggle with increased anxiety, depression, and physical pain resulting from a toxic work environment, exacerbated by the trauma of unpaid work,” the lawsuit states.
“This is a paid employment lawsuit. There are no allegations of sexual harassment, but there are also salacious accusations aimed at embarrassing her,” Stallion's attorney, Alex Spiro, told THR. “This matter will be dealt with in court.”
