Megan Thee Stallion announces new album during Atlanta show – Music News

Megan Thee Stallion sent fans into a frenzy when she announced the title and release date of her next album during her concert in Atlanta on Sunday.

The Hot Girl Summer star thrilled the State Farm Arena crowd by revealing that her third studio album is titled Megan and will be released on June 28th.

The album cover was projected onto a screen, along with an image of a naked Megan emerging from a cocoon hanging upside down from a tree.

She later posted the artwork on Instagram, commenting, “Surprise HOT ladies!!!! My new album 'MEGAN' comes out June 28th. Click the link in my bio to pre-save now!”

The album follows 2022's Traumazine and marks Megan's first release as a fully independent artist since leaving her previous label, 1501 Certified Entertainment, following a legal battle. After the two sides reached a confidential settlement in October 2023, the rapper launched her own independent company, Hot Girl Productions.

The album will include her three latest singles, “Boa,” “Cobra,” and “Hiss.”

In an interview with L'OFFICIEL USA last week, the 29-year-old said rebirth and resurrection were the album's main concepts.

Alluding to the sound, she added, “This is music that I would love if I wasn't Megan Thee Stallion. I don't want to say I'm dabbling in other genres, I'm just dabbling in other sounds, but it's still Megan Thee Stallion. It doesn't feel like I've gone left. It feels true to me. I never thought I'd see her rapping on a song like this, but I think it's like, this sounds great.”

Megan performed in Atlanta on Sunday after a burst water main forced the postponement of her Friday and Saturday shows, and she's scheduled to take the stage at the same venue on Monday night.
