The news comes after Manson (real name Brian Warner) was fired from his former record label, Loma Vista Recordings, after he was accused of sexual abuse by ex-girlfriend Evan Rachel Wood and several other women. Manson's former personal assistant, Ashley Walters, also accused him of sexual assault.
Following the charges, the Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department launched a criminal investigation into reports of domestic violence made by Manson between 2009 and 2011. The findings were submitted to the Los Angeles District Attorney's Office in September 2022, and prosecutors at the time said: More evidence was needed before criminal charges could be considered.

Ms. Smithline later recanted her own claims, claiming that Wood and others “manipulated” her into publicizing her “false accusations of abuse” against Manson. Last December, an appeals court reconsidered Ms. Walters' case and ruled that the trauma she claimed to have suffered may have suppressed her memories of the alleged abuse, resulting in California The two-year statute of limitations was allowed to be invalidated.
Manson denies all of the women's claims.
