Maren Morris comes out as bisexual in Pride Month post – Music News

Maren Morris has revealed that she is bisexual.

The country music star took to Instagram on Sunday to celebrate Pride Month and reveal his sexual orientation.

“Happy to be the B for LGBTQ+,” she wrote simply. “Happy Pride (rainbow emoji).”

Maren, 34, revealed the news alongside photos from her concert in Phoenix, Arizona, on Saturday night. Two of the photos show the “My Church” hitmaker waving a Pride flag onstage.

Maren filed for divorce from country songwriter Ryan Hurd in October after five years of marriage, and their separation was finalized in January, with the ex-couple given joint custody of their 4-year-old son, Hayes.

The singer has always been a vocal advocate for LGBTQ+ rights, and last year she was recognized by GLAAD for her work as an ally, receiving the organization's Excellence in Media Award for her contributions to promoting acceptance of LGBTQ+ people.

“I am not brave. It doesn't take courage or guts to make the right decision. It doesn't take heroic efforts to demand basic human rights for all,” she said in her acceptance speech. “Leaving your home knowing that you may face violence for just being yourself – that's brave.”

“This community has supported me and made me feel safe at a time when I felt alone. I will never be able to repay them, but I hope to be able to settle in for the rest of my life and career.”
