Maluma thanks fans after Chicago festival canceled due to bad weather – Music News

Maluma has paid tribute to fans who braved inclement weather to attend Chicago's cancelled Sueños festival.

Just minutes after the Magic singer took to the stage in Chicago's Grant Park on Sunday, May 26, rain and thunderstorms forced festival-goers to evacuate.

At around 8pm local time, festival organisers sent out the message via email and social media.

“If you are evacuating due to weather, please remain calm and head to the nearest exit,” they urged on Instagram.

“Unfortunately, due to weather conditions the event has concluded. Gates will not reopen.”

The festival's abrupt end came just hours after the second day of the event was postponed due to severe weather warnings.

Maluma took to social media to let fans know he owes them a favor.

“The short time we were able to spend together, thanks to the weather, was the best,” the Colombian singer wrote.

“The storm scared us just as the best part was about to begin. Love you.”

Mexican singer Peso Pluma was scheduled to close on Sunday.

He shared an update to his nearly 14 million followers on Instagram just minutes after the festival was officially canceled.

“I have bad news,” he said.

“I had just left the festival, everyone was evacuated and I was evacuated too.

“My show has been cancelled due to heavy rain and thunderstorms expected in Chicago.

“City officials are not allowing the event to take place today. We will provide more information as soon as we have it.”
