Karol G will be named Woman of the Year at the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 awards ceremony on June 9. The singer, who was named Billboard's 2024 Woman of the Year in March, will be recognized for her “extraordinary milestones and unparalleled impact on the music industry.”
Additionally, Gloria Estefan will receive the “Legend” Award, Camila Cabello will receive the “Global Impact” Award, Ana Bárbara will receive the “Lifetime Achievement” Award, Ángela Aguilar will receive the “Musical Dynasty” Award, Kali Uchis will receive the “Rising Star” Award, and Kany Garcia will receive the “Spirit of Change” Award.
The Billboard Latin Women in Music 2024 ceremony will air exclusively on Telemundo on June 9 at 9pm ET and will also be simultaneously available on the Telemundo app and Peacock. Additional winners are expected to be announced at the awards, which debuted last year with Shakira as “Woman of the Year” and Ana Gabriel as “Living Legend.”
The Billboard Latin Women in Music Awards “recognize the importance of Latina women in the music industry and honor women who have positively impacted Latin music and the industry in the previous year.”
Last year, Karol G became the first female artist to have a Spanish-language album reach number one on the Billboard 200 with her LP Mañana Sera Bonito. In March, she won her first Grammy Award for Best Musica Urbana Album.
“This is truly amazing,” the singer said in her acceptance speech. “My album has given me the best memories of my life, and my whole life. Thank you so much to all my fans who enjoyed my album, to all of you who motivated and inspired me, and to all of you who healed with me. I promise to always do my best, and I hope this is the first of many more to come. Thank you everyone.”
The Colombian superstar recently broke several records, selling over one million tickets during her “Mañana Sera Bonito” tour, which hit 15 cities in 12 countries. During the massive tour, Karol became the first Latin artist to sell out Mexico City's Estadio Azteca for three consecutive nights, and also sold over 100,000 tickets for two consecutive nights in Costa Rica, the most for any international tour.
