'I'm really looking forward to it': Normani hints at solo concert – Music News

Normani admitted she's been “deprived of live performances for so long” and hinted at a solo concert.

The former Fifth Harmony star released his long-awaited debut solo album, Dopamine, last week and admitted he's looking forward to returning to the stage after holed up in the studio.

She told Vogue magazine, “That's where I thrive the most. I know everyone has their favorite part of the process. For me, I love performing in any shape or style, whether it's a music video or an awards show. I feel like I haven't done that in a long time either, so I'm really looking forward to that part. I need that part. And honestly, I feel like I've been deprived of that because I've been on the other side of it for so long. There's so much I want to do and I'm so inspired by my fans, so I'm curious to see what their favorites are.”

The 28-year-old singer has avoided reviews of the record.

She explained why, saying, “Honestly, I don't really know what everyone's saying. I've told myself not to dwell too much on it or let the day get me down. I've heard so much positive feedback from family, friends and everyone around me, so I'm really happy. But, yeah, I'm just trying my best to stay quiet and be present in the moment and be grateful for where I am and how much I've grown personally.”

The “Wild Side” singer also gushed about working with his idol, singer-songwriter James Blake, 35, on the song “Tantrums,” and how being with him helped him feel like he “let his guard down.”

She said: “Honestly, I've always been a big fan of James', so I reached out to him and asked if he'd like to collaborate. I think working with him really helped me let my guard down. It was very freeing. Not to check boxes, but to make something with no expectations, just for the love of music and the love of the art. And he was really on board. He's honestly one of the best people I've ever met, not just in the industry but in life. He believed in the record as much as I did, and we interacted equally and he was on board with getting it right. We went through a bunch of versions and he never made me feel like I was overdoing it. He supported and encouraged my ideas, and I'm really grateful for that, and that he made the process a little bit more peaceful in spite of everything else.”
