The death of PGA Tour golfer Grayson Murray at age 30 on Saturday sent shockwaves through the sports world.
The two-time PGA Tour winner withdrew from the Charles Schwab Challenge on Friday, citing illness, two holes from the end of the second round. He finished five over par with three straight bogeys and was +3 for the tournament.
Murray's parents broke their silence on Sunday and confirmed that he had taken his own life.

“We have spent the last 24 hours trying to come to terms with the fact that our son is gone. It feels surreal to have to admit this not only to ourselves but to the world. It's a nightmare,” they said in a statement.
“There are so many unanswered questions, but one,” they continued, “Was Grayson loved? Yes. He was loved by us, his brother Cameron, his sister Erica, all of his extended family, his friends, his fellow players, and apparently many of you reading this. He was loved and will be missed.”
“We want to thank the PGA Tour and the golf community at large for the tremendous support they have shown us. Life hasn't always been easy for Grayson, and although he has taken his own life, we know he is now resting peacefully.”

PGA Tour Commissioner Jay Monahan said he met with Murray's parents early Saturday to offer his condolences and that both agreed the tournament should go ahead.
“They were adamant that this was Grayson's wish and, although difficult, we want to respect their wishes,” Monahan said in a statement.
Grayson has two career wins on tour, including a playoff victory over Keegan Bradley and Byung-hun Ahn at this year's Sony Open in Hawaii, the first of which came at the 2017 Barbasol Championship.
Murray struggled with depression and anxiety as a young man and had been treated for alcoholism, saying in January he had been sober for several months.
