“He left us too soon. I think he touched everyone's lives. I'm talking about Steve Albini. Those who know him know. If you don't know, please remember.'' His name is Steve Albini. Let's sing this for him. ”
After Steve's death, an interview with the former Nirvana drummer resurfaced in which he praised the producer as the “smartest” person he had ever met.
In 20155, Dave told BBC 6 Music: Then I look at his pictures and he looks like this skinny little guy. He's smarter, funnier, and better at everything than anyone else in the world.
“And he made a lot of records that we loved, the Pixies record, the Breeders record, the Jesus record. [Lizards] record. So when I went to record with him, you know I was nervous because I knew what kind of guy he was, and I just thought he was going to hate me because I'm such an idiot. I think we got along really well because I was the drummer because he treated me like a pet.
“But certainly he's a one-of-a-kind person and I'm glad I had the opportunity to tell his story, because he's a great guy, not just for musicians, but for the industry, and outside of traditional business. I think it set a great example of how to think.”
“I love him to death because he lives to do things that are authentic and passionate, and his level of integrity is unwavering, unbending, and stubborn for a good reason. I think he's great.”
