This week's music was as varied as ever, with new releases from Eminem to Normani, Charli XCX, Shaboozie and more wrapping up May.
Kicking off with “Houdini,” Slim Shady once again proves he's a master of getting people talking. Sampling Steve Miller Band, the track features a number of high-profile names, including R. Kelly and Megan Thee Stallion, and finds Em reflecting on his past and the changing face of culture. He also accompanied the song with a bombastic, superhero-themed music video, featuring cameos from Pete Davidson, Dr. Dre, 50 Cent, Snoop Dogg, and more.
Meanwhile, Normani performed the second track off her highly anticipated debut album, Dopamine. On the confident “Candy Paint,” the Fifth Harmony former singer shows off her talent for getting any man she wants, regardless of her current relationship status.
Additionally, Charli XCX collaborated with Robyn and Yung Lean on a new take on the single “360.” The alt-pop star's next album is hotly anticipated, with Brat due for release in just over a week on June 7th.
Finally, with a long list of top 2024 album releases on pause — Billie Eilish's Hit Me Hard and Soft, Taylor Swift's The Tortured Poets Department, BeyoncĂ©'s Cowboy Carter, and countless others — Shaboozie and Ira Star both announced full-length projects on Friday (May 31). The Virginia-born country star hops between genres on her third studio album, Where I've Been, Isn't Where I'm Going, while the Nigerian singer-songwriter nails her own unique sound on The Year I Turned 21.
