Dua Lipa's “Radical Optimism” topped this week's new song poll, which features music artists from various genres.
Music fans voted in a poll published in Billboard on Friday (May 3), choosing the pop star's third studio album as their favorite new song released in the past week.
Lipa's new set received 35% of the vote in the poll, and features songs by J. Balvin (“Eyes Closed”), Kendrick Lamar (“6:16 in LA” and “Euphoria”) from Imagine Dragons. ''), Willow (“Empathogen''), Kane Brown & Marshmello (“Miles on It''), and others.
Lipa's 11-track Radical Optimism (her first full-fledged album since 2020's Future Nostalgia) includes previously released singles “Houdini,” “Training Season” and “Illusion.” It is recorded.
“[Releasing the album] It feels good. For lack of a better word, I'm fundamentally optimistic,” she previously told Billboard, explaining the idea behind the album cover, which depicts the singer floating in a wide ocean, facing a shark's fin. She says, “Throughout the record there's an idea that there's chaos going on, and I'm trying to push that through in a way that feels authentic and honest to me.”
The British artist also served as host and musical guest on Saturday Night Live on May 4, performing her radical optimism songs “Illusion” and “Happy for You.”
Radical optimism was followed in this week's poll by the “other” category, with about 23% of the vote. In third place was Imagine Dragons, featuring J. Balvin's “Eyes Closed,” with 21% of the votes.
