Vice President Kamala Harris was asked Monday on Drew Barrymore's daytime talk show if she could be the mother of this country.
“I think we all really need a big hug in the world right now,” Barrymore said, “but in our country, we need you to be the momma of this country.” Told.
“Yes,” Harris replied with a laugh.

The exchange was widely ridiculed by political commentators on social media.
“Drew Barrymore is gaslighting. No one wants Kamala Harris to be the 'Mamala' of this country,” ACT for America President Bridget Gabrielle wrote on Monday X.
“Howard Stern calls Joe Biden 'Father of the Nation.'” Drew Barrymore said Kamala needs to be our 'Mama Mala.' Who's in the cult? These people aren't looking for a leader, they're looking for a surrogate parent,” Fox News host Will Caine wrote.
Author Ori London said, “Drew Barrymore joins Kamala Harris in a cringe-worthy fawning show.”
“Is that possible?” Canadian Professor Gad Saad responded to London's X post, asking about the conversation between Mr. Harris and Mr. Barrymore. “Can society dig deep enough into this infantile orgy of mediocrity to find this compelling?”

Harris also told Barrymore to “never let anyone take away your power” and to intentionally understand “what's in your power” before commenting on her laughter. He also talked about the importance of Harris made headlines when she answered questions about the border crisis and the importance of women's leadership with a laugh.
“You were asking me earlier what it meant to be like the first woman,” Harris said. “And it's funny because people still have to get used to this, right?”
Barrymore also told Harris that she loves the vice president's laugh.
