Years before that fateful Thanksgiving weekend in 2009, it had long been rumored that Tiger Woods had been unfaithful to his ex-wife Elin Nordegren.
There has been speculation that photos of Woods and his alleged mistress, Mindy Lawton, were never made public after the National Enquirer and Woods negotiated a deal to appear on the cover of Men's Fitness magazine. Ta.
According to David Pecker, the speculation turned out to be true.

At the time of the Lawton scandal, Pecker was CEO of American Media, which operates the Enquirer and Men's Fitness.
Testifying at the New York v. Trump trial in New York, Mr. Pecker said Mr. Woods bought and buried the photos in exchange for appearing in the magazine.
Pecker claims he bought a photo of the two of them in the church parking lot and used it to blackmail him. Woods was on the cover of the magazine, which featured a 12-page article about her diet, training regimen, and marriage.

But the deal only bought Woods time, as his affair with Rachel Uchitel became public in 2009, leading to Nordegren swinging a golf club at Woods' car.
After the altercation made headlines, dozens of women came forward to say they had relationships with Woods. The divorce is said to have cost Woods approximately $100 million.
Since then, Woods has been in on-and-off relationships, including one with Olympic skier Lindsey Vonn. His recent relationship with Erica Herman ended badly when she accused Woods of sexual harassment and forced her to sign a non-disclosure agreement.

Woods recently played in the Masters, marking his 24th consecutive appearance. However, in the third round, he scored an 82, his worst score at the Augusta tournament, and finished in last place.
