Taylor Swift's strong reputation has been called into question by fellow female musicians, sparking an intense backlash online.
“Taylor is not important,” American singer Courtney Love told the Standard newspaper, a comment that has since gone viral on the internet.
“She may be a safe space for girls, and she's probably the Madonna of today, but as an artist she's not interesting,” he suggested of Swift, 34, who was named Times Person of the Year in December.

Love's representatives had no further comment on the matter. Swift's representatives did not immediately respond to Fox News Digital's request for comment.
Love's comments sparked an immediate backlash online, with users suggesting that Kurt Cobain's wife may have been bitten by the jealous bug.
“Kourtney is just jealous that she's never smelled the kind of success Taylor has had,” one person wrote.
“I get that you're not a fan of someone's music, but disparaging it comes across as jealousy,” another suggested.

Others agreed with Love's assessment, writing, “She has a point” and “I'm so glad someone said that.”
But Swift wasn't the only female artist on Love's cutting board. Love analyzed the current state of the music industry, explaining, “It's great that there are so many successful women in the music industry, but many of them are becoming clichés.”

“I mean, I like the idea of Beyoncé making a country record because it's about a black woman stepping into a space that was previously reserved for white women, so I don't really like it. As a concept. I like it. I just don't like her music,'' he said, referring to Beyoncé's new country album, Cowboy Carter.

“I didn't like Lana. [Del Rey] “I think she really should take a seven-year break since she covered a John Denver song,” she said of Del Rey, who opened for her on her 2015 Endless Summer tour. I thought she was great. When I was recording her new album, she had such an impact on me that I had to stop listening to her songs. ”
Love also attacked Madonna, stressing that there was no love lost between them.
“I don't like her, and she doesn't like me. I loved 'Desperately Searching for Susan,' but I cared about New York City as much as she did.” she said of the 1985 film.
