The fatal collision happened just hours after the singer's first performance as a solo artist following the dissolution of the musical group Márcio & Ana Paula on May 3.
Brazilian country music star Ana Paula Bieria died alongside her boyfriend, city councilman Marcelo Stocco, in a horrific head-on collision in the northern city of Cacoar last month. Federal highway police said the 27-year-old singer was driving a car with Stocco, 32, when it collided with a tractor-trailer on the highway on Sunday, May 12, killing both men, according to the Daily Mail and The Sun.
The fatal crash occurred as Bieria and Stocco were traveling to the city of Pimenta Bueno after the singer's final performance in Cacoal that evening. Their car lost control and collided head-on with a tractor-trailer, causing it to overturn on the side of the highway. Both Bieria and Stocco died in the accident. The tractor driver was not injured, authorities said. An investigation into the accident is ongoing, but the fire department said they believe Bieria may have fallen asleep at the wheel.
The incident happened just hours after Vieria took to the stage at the Bar do Bodega in Cacoal for his final performance. The show was one of his first solo shows since the breakup on May 3 of Márcio & Ana Paula, the musical group behind the hits “Chamou de amor, perdi” (We Called It Love, We Lost), “Só vem” (We Just Came) and “Conta a Verdade” (Tell the Truth).
Vieria shared photos on social media of herself, her boyfriend and friends at the bar. In a statement after the accident, the bar said: “We never imagined his final performance would be in our home. An incredibly special woman who will live in our memories forever. Rest in Peace!”
Bieria was romantically involved with Stocco, who has been elected to the Pimenta Bueno city council since 2020. At the time of the accident, Stocco was nearing the end of his first term.
“Marcelo Stocco was a Pimenta Bueno city council member who, during his term, led numerous initiatives in favor of residents and the city, leaving a significant mark on the Pimenta Bueno community,” Pimenta Bueno city hall said in a statement. “Ana Paula was known for her captivating voice and her social media presence.”
Vieria and Stocco were buried in separate ceremonies on May 13. Further details regarding the tragic car accident are currently unavailable.
