Coldplay embark on the next stage of their intergalactic journey with “Feels Like Im Falling In Love.”
Produced by Swedish maestro Max Martin, the new track was unveiled at midnight and is the first cut from the British band's upcoming 10th studio album, Moon Music.
The Swede directs with great clarity, and then the Englishman Martin confesses his emotional support: there is no doubt about it, he is totally in love.
In the song, he sings, “Oh, I think I've fallen in love/Maybe for the first time, baby, you blew my mind/I think I've fallen in love/You threw me a lifeline/This is for life, I know it.”
Coldplay will debut the song at Budapest's Puskas Arena this week, and will have the opportunity to perform it in front of millions of music fans (and millions watching on screens) when they headline Glastonbury Festival for a record fifth time.
Moon Music is set to be released on October 4, 2024. It is Coldplay's latest release and the follow-up to their 2021 album Music of the Spheres, produced by Max Martin. The album debuted at number one in the UK and Australia, and number four on the Billboard 200. Their single with BTS, “My Universe,” reached number one on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, becoming one of their two biggest chart leaders (“Viva La Vida” topped the chart for one week in 2008). Four of their albums have topped the Billboard 200 chart.
In the UK, Coldplay's chart story can only be described as perfect, with each of their nine albums reaching No. 1 in the Official UK Albums Chart, dating back to their 2000 debut, Parachutes.
Coldplay are currently on tour supporting Spheres, a multi-year tour that is scheduled to conclude with the second of two shows at Eden Park in Auckland, New Zealand on November 16th.
Martin has been hinting at the new record for at least 18 months. In January 2023, he told Toronto City News that his then-promised second album in the Music of the Sphere series was nearing completion. While he said “it won't be out for a while,” he hinted that the band “may” start performing some of the new songs live that year.
The quartet will be promoting environmental ethics on Moon Music, with Coldplay saying they have “made great efforts to make the album's physical release as sustainable as possible,” according to a previously released statement.
