Charli XCX has confirmed long-standing rumors that she is working on new Britney Spears music.
During a recent appearance on “Watch What Happens Live,” the “Von Dutch” singer clarified that although she wrote a song for the pop princess, Spears did not record the track. “It leaked to the press. Afterwards, Britney posted something like, 'I don't ask random people to write about it.' And I thought, “Oh.” got it. She’s out.’ So we don’t know if she was part of the process or not,” Charlie explained. “The team was there…but she didn't record. She clearly wasn't.”
However, Charlie called the idea of Spears recording her song “a dream come true.”

Back in January, Spears slammed rumors circulating about a collaboration with Charlie Michaels and Julia Michaels in an Instagram post. “It's clear that most of the news is crap,” she wrote in a long caption. “They keep saying I'm relying on random people to make a new album…I'm never going back to the music industry!!!”
She continued, “When I write, I'm either writing for fun or I'm writing for other people!!!” I’m sure there are a lot of things that aren’t… I’ve written over 20 songs for other people in the last two years!!! I’m a ghostwriter so I honestly enjoy it!!! It is also said that my book was published illegally without my approval, but that is far from the truth… Have you read the recent news?
