Summer is just around the corner, and some of today's hottest artists are heating it up with their latest music releases.

For the opening song, Zach Bryan performed the melancholic “Pink Skies” as his grown children prepared to say goodbye to their lost loved ones. Bryan debuted at No. 1 on both the all-genre Billboard 200 Albums chart and the Hot 100 Songs survey, and was named Billboard's Top New Artist of 2023.

Meanwhile, RM released his second solo album, “Right Place, Wrong Person,” on Friday (May 24), featuring 11 new songs for fans to enjoy in between his band's mandatory military service. Led by the single “Come Back to Me,” “Right Place, Wrong Person” also features alternative-based tracks “Nuts,” “Groin,” “Heaven” and “LOST!” Overall, the album is, according to Big Hit's release, “a raw and honest expression of RM's unique sensibility, aesthetic and beliefs,” and follows the Korean artist's 2022 debut album, “Indigo,” which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200.

Also on the album front, Twenty One Pilots return with Clancy, which follows 2021's Scaled and Icy, which peaked at No. 3 on the Billboard 200, and concludes the duo's lengthy album saga that began with 2015's Blurryface and 2018's Trench.

Sexy Redd also surprised fans with his new mixtape, In Sexy We Trust, which features a guest appearance from Drake on the track “U My Everything,” a reference and cover of Metro Boomin's “BBL Drizzy.”

Billie Eilish's third album, 'Hit Me Hard and Soft', hits career-best first week sales – Music News

Billie Eilish has risen to her third official number one album with 'HIT ME HARD AND SOFT'.

According to Official Charts data, Billie's third studio album finished the week with a total of 67,100 chart units, a new personal best for the biggest debut week sales of her career in the UK to date, far surpassing her 2019 debut album, WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?, which debuted with 48,400 units. It is also the second biggest debut week sales of an album this year in the UK.

More than a quarter of Billie's total sales this week come from record sales, with Hit Me Hard And Soft also reaching No.1 on the Official Record Albums Chart.

'HIT ME HARD AND SOFT' follows Billie's 2019 debut 'WHEN WE ALL FALL ASLEEP, WHERE DO WE GO?' and 2021's 'Happier Than Ever', both of which debuted at the top of the Official Albums Chart.

Additionally, three songs from the album have made it into the top 10 of this week's Official Singles Chart – LUNCH (#2), CHIHIRO (#7) and BIRDS OF A FEATHER (#9).

Meanwhile, Zayn's triumphant country-inspired album, Room Under the Stairs, is his third Top 40 solo album, following 2016's chart-topper Mind of Mine and 2021's Nobody Is Listening (#17). Zayn has scored four more number one albums during his time with One Direction. Room Under the Stairs is also the best-selling album among independent record stores over the past seven days, hitting number one on this week's Official Record Store Chart.

Elsewhere in the top 10, Portishead frontwoman Beth Gibbons' debut solo studio album, 'Lives Outgrown', debuts at No. 7, while legendary guitarist Slash's 'Orgy of the Damned' follows closely behind at No. 8.

Michael Head & The Red Elastic Band debut at No. 10 with their latest album, Loophole, marking their second top 10 collection.

Further down the list, London rapper Kravish comes in at number 30 with her sophomore mixtape, Chapter 16, her second Top 40 collection, and finally Girls Aloud's greatest hits collection Ten re-enters the list at number 39 following the kickoff of their Girls Aloud Show tour last weekend.

Bruce Springsteen reveals he “aspired” to be British – Music News

Bruce Springsteen has revealed that he “really wanted” to be British.

Despite being hailed as a voice for blue-collar America, Springsteen admitted he dreamed of being born in Britain as he was named the Ivor Academy's newest fellow at the prestigious Ivor Novello Awards ceremony in London on Thursday night.

The rock legend recalled his first visit to the UK in 1975, and revealed he was in awe of trend-setting bands like The Beatles and The Rolling Stones.

“For a young rock singer from New Jersey, it was like coming to Mecca,” he said in his acceptance speech. “We thought we'd died and gone to heaven. The youth, the noise, the trends, the girls. I was born American and totally ruthless, but when I was 16, I desperately wanted to be English.”

Springsteen said he even tried to hide his American accent in an attempt to blend in.

“I was pretty good at fake British accents, the cashier ladies at the local supermarket thought so,” he laughed.

Springsteen becomes the first international songwriter to receive an Ivor Academy Fellowship, following in the footsteps of such big names as Elton John, Beatles legend Paul McCartney, Annie Lennox and Kate Bush.

McCartney was on hand to present Springsteen with the award, and the music icon used the opportunity to playfully poke fun at the “Born in the USA” musician before introducing him onto the stage.

McCartney joked that he “can't think of anyone more deserving” to receive the honor, naming Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Beyonce and Taylor Swift as potential recipients.

In his acceptance speech, Springsteen, 74, said he hoped to “perform at my best. I've been inspired by so many musicians and writers from the UK.”

“To be the first international artist to be awarded this fellowship means a lot to me today, especially as an American who has always suspected that the British are suspicious of our quirky ways.”

Justin Bieber shares new photo of pregnant wife Hailey – Music News

Justin Bieber has shared a new photo of his wife Hailey Bieber's growing baby bump.

The Canadian singer clearly can't wait to become a father, and on Thursday night he shared a series of photos on social media of the loved-up couple posing together.

One of the photos posted to Justin's Instagram account shows the pair kissing as Hailey, 27, has her jacket half-buttoned, exposing her stomach.

In another photo, Hailey poses in an oversized blazer, loose jeans and a white shirt unbuttoned to show off her belly, gazing into the camera, while Justin stands next to her in a leather jacket, white shirt and black trousers.

While Justin didn't include a message with the snap, Hailey reposted it to her own Instagram Story, writing, “Mommy and daddy for real.”

Just a few hours later, Justin added another series of photos, showing the model wearing sunglasses, a leather jacket and a black top, cradling her belly and pouting for the camera.

“We're all hoping, baby, we're all hoping,” Justin, 30, added in the caption, along with several selfies he took during a trip to Tokyo.

The new post caused a stir among fans, with thousands of people commenting on the picture and celebrities including Hailey's best friend Kendall Jenner and singer Leigh-Anne Pinnock also liking the image.

Actress and singer Ashley Benson has opened up about her excitement over the upcoming birth of her baby, commenting, “I'm so excited!”

Justin and Hailey, who married in 2018, announced the pregnancy by sharing photos from their vow renewal ceremony in Hawaii earlier this month.

Truck Festival shines new talent on This Feeling stage – Music News

The Truck Festival stage, presented by legendary rock'n'roll club night and new music champions This Feeling, will return in partnership with luxury boot brand Hunter.

This summer's indie festival takes place at Hill Farm in Oxfordshire from 25th to 28th July, and the stage will give up-and-coming artists the chance to perform at the same event alongside headliners IDLES, Jamie T, Wet Legs and The Streets.

Headliners include The Lilacs, Spangled and The Kairos.

Mikey Jonns, founder of This Feeling, said: “We're incredibly excited to team up with Hunter to bring some of the best breakdancers in the country to Truck Festival. To date, This Feeling has been proud to have given so many big names their first opportunity to play Truck Festival, including Red Rum Club, Dylan John Thomas, Only The Poets, Sophie and The Giants, Rianne Downey, The Clause and Overpass. Berry Gordy Music Industry Center opens at UCLA

Music industry legend and Motown Records founder Berry Gordy Jr. has pledged $5 million to establish the UCLA Berry Gordy Music Industry Center. Established in partnership with the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music, the center is scheduled to open during the 2024/2025 academic year.

“I am pleased to establish a center that will provide UCLA students with the opportunity to prepare for careers in the music industry,” Gordy said in a news release. “Music is powerful, inspiring and universal, transcending political, cultural, social and economic barriers. Music can reach people of all kinds and has been a guiding force my life. These students will be the future innovators, artists and business leaders who will lead the 21st century.”

“This center will position the UCLA Herb Alpert School of Music as one of the leading music industry programs in the world,” said Eileen Strempel, the School of Music's founding dean. “It will empower us to recruit and attract the best faculty and students and conduct research at the cutting edge of our fields. Mr. Gordy's gift will position our program to be a leading force in shaping the music industry in the 21st century.”

Dedicated to expanding Gordy's tradition of education and mentoring, the center will support the development of new courses and offer a specialized curriculum in songwriting and production. To further raise awareness about careers in the music industry, the center will provide funding to develop partnerships with primary and secondary schools. It will also sponsor research to explore technology, streaming algorithms, and social justice.

“Berry Gordy is an American treasure,” said Michael Ostin, a music industry veteran who also serves on the Dean's Advisory Board. “What he did at Motown was truly remarkable, blending creativity and business acumen in a way that had never been done before. He embodies everything we hope to embody in our music industry programs. He is also known for his generosity, so it is not surprising that Berry would make such a generous and transformative gift to help educate and develop the next generation of industry leaders.”

Under Gordy's direction, Motown Records became one of the most successful and influential independent record companies in the music industry, with its legendary roster of hitmakers including Smokey Robinson, The Miracles, Diana Ross, The Supremes, The Temptations, Marvin Gaye, Michael Jackson and the Jackson Five, and many more.

“I've always found Berry to be a generous and compassionate man,” commented Robinson. “Early in my career, I benefited from Berry's tutelage. He was always a teacher at heart. What's great about this center is that we are guided by his philosophy that truly great music comes from nurturing young talent and encouraging them to think holistically about their art and their careers.”

Lana Del Rey song rejected for Bond film 'Spectre' theme – Music News

Lana Del Rey has revealed that her song wasn't chosen as the James Bond theme for 'Spectre'.

The 'Video Games' hitmaker revealed that he wrote the track '24', from his 2015 album 'Honeymoon', for the film starring Daniel Craig, but that Sam Smith's 'Writing's On The Wall' was ultimately chosen.

When asked by the BBC at The Ivor the Ring 2024 in London on Thursday (May 23rd), why she hasn't sung the theme song to a Bond film yet, she replied: “I mean, why hasn't that happened yet?”

Of the songs she contributed, she simply said, “I wrote them for them.”

The “Cinnamon Girl” singer joked that she often “does the Nancy Sinatra thing sometimes and thinks it's the title song.”

Lana received a special international award at the star-studded ceremony.

Responding to the neglect, Rae, who won Amazon Music's Songwriter of the Year award, said of Lana, “She has the perfect energy for that.”

“I think she would be happy to accept that and I think that's what we'll see in the future.”

At a ceremony in London, Bruce Springsteen was awarded an Academy Fellowship, becoming the first American artist to receive the honor.

The 74-year-old boss was introduced by Sir Paul McCartney, who affectionately teased the award-winning star.

“I can't think of a more deserving recipient, except maybe Bob Dylan,” said McCartney, 81.

He added: “Or Paul Simon, Billy Joel, Beyoncé, Taylor Swift… the list goes on.”

The former Beatle also joked about Springsteen's reputation as being a “working man.”

“He's known as the American worker, but he admits he's never worked in his life,” he said.

Springsteen is actually the first foreigner to receive an Academy Fellowship, and has previously said he is honored by the award.

The music icon added: “This entire country has welcomed me at every turn, and for that I will always remain deeply grateful.”

Lady Gaga says her new song is “different from anything I've ever done before”

While appearing at the Los Angeles premiere of Lady Gaga's concert film, Gaga Chromatica Ball, the singer admitted that she was “in the studio every day” and also hinted that the song is very different from her previous work.

“I've written a lot of songs and produced a lot of songs, but this is totally different from anything I've ever done,” she said during a Q&A with Access Hollywood's Scott Evans before a screening of the film. “I love breaking genres, I love exploring musically, and it's just a really nice thing to know that no matter what I do, I'm going to be loved.”

She explained that her current creative process began during her Chromatica Ball tour in 2022. “What I'm definitely exploring right now is a kind of art of intensity, and I think this art of intensity actually started during this tour,” she explained, “but it's not over yet.”

The film focuses on Lady Gaga during her 2022 Chromatica Ball Tour tour stop at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles, where she reflected on the 20-date tour during a Q&A, saying it was “a very special time.”

“This tour came at a time when no one thought tours were possible. [amid the pandemic] “Stadiums all over the world were packed, tickets were sold out, people were dressed up, dancing, singing,” she said. “I'm really excited for people to see up close what we've created.”

She also revealed that she played five shows during the COVID-19 pandemic while on tour. “I told my whole team about it,” she recalled. “I said, 'I don't want you to feel bad at work, you don't have to perform, you don't have to work that day, but I'm going to play the show,' because I didn't want to disappoint my fans. And it seemed to me like they were all putting themselves at risk every day to come to the shows.”

She added that the tour and album “was in many ways the end of a period of my life and the beginning of a whole new one.”

“I feel like I was only a couple of albums into that, saying goodbye to some old wounds and scars and issues, and on this tour I felt like I was ready to do something completely different,” Gaga said. “I feel like I had the courage to embrace this brutalist aesthetic that I didn't have when the album first came out.”

The Chromatica Ball tour battled numerous obstacles before fully blossoming in 2022. The tour was postponed twice, first when the pandemic shut down the world in 2020, and then when only certain stops on the international tour were lined up to coincide with the return of live music in 2021. Once the ball finally began, Gaga leaned into her biggest, weirdest musical mode.

In March, Lady Gaga shared on Instagram that she's been “writing the best songs since I can remember.” Gaga occasionally shares photos of herself in the studio and recently announced the return of her jazz and piano show in Las Vegas, where she performs jazz standards and tunes from the Great American Songbook.

Gaga Chromatica Ball premieres on May 25th at 8pm ET on HBO and Max.
