The View host calls Jennifer Lopez 'very uncomfortable' – Music News

Meghan McCain has made her disdain for music and movie superstar Jennifer Lopez public.

The former The View host spoke about Jennifer Lopez's visit to the daytime talk show, which he co-hosted from 2017 to 2021, on the latest episode of his podcast, Citizen McCain.

She revealed that Lopez brought a large entourage and was “not a nice person.”

“She's a really unpleasant person,” McCain opined.

“She had the biggest entourage I've ever seen. Even bigger than the president. I just don't understand why that was necessary.”

She added, “I was a host on The View and she was not nice. You don't have to be this nice all the time, but I was surprised that someone like Kim Kardashian couldn't be more fun.”

McCain's podcast guest, reality TV producer Carlos King, defended Lopez and said she was attractive.

“She was a very kind person and didn't have a big entourage,” King countered.

“I went to see Jennifer Lopez in Las Vegas. It was one of the top five shows I've ever seen in my life. She performed and danced nonstop for 90 minutes. I was shocked that people didn't buy tickets because she's such a hard worker.”

Rumors are currently swirling around troubles in Lopez's marriage to Ben Affleck, and she canceled her planned “This Is Me…Live” tour last month “to be with my children, family and close friends.”

“It may seem like there's a lot of negativity out there right now,” she wrote at the time.

“But don't let a few voices drown out the fact that there is so much love out there.”

Ana Bárbara is Billboard's Latina Female Music Star

Ana Bárbara is known for her spectacular performances and ability to take the stage by storm, and on Sunday night (June 9), she lived up to the hype as she opened the second edition of Billboard's Latin Women in Music with an impressive medley that included “Te Regalo la Lluvia,” “Los Caminos e la Vida,” “Qué Poca,” and “La Trampa,” accompanied by a live band of 13 musicians, including brass, guitar, and accordion.

Ana Bárbara not only sang, including some of her own compositions, but also danced accompanied by 12 dancers (6 women and 6 men).

It was a fitting sight for the singer and songwriter receiving a Lifetime Achievement Award in recognition of her illustrious 30-year career. Ana Bárbara walked onto the stage in a long, pink sequined cape, then shed it to reveal a pink bodysuit and chaps that few could pull off.

But ultimately what stood out most was the extraordinary voice.

Later that night, she received a Lifetime Achievement Award from her friend and fellow Mexican Maria Jose, after which she and Maria performed their new single, “Mi Rey, Mi Santo.”

“Ana Bárbara is an example of someone who is unstoppable,” said María José. “I empathize with the strength and determination that led her to choose to become an artist, and especially with who she is as a woman.”

A visibly emotional Ana Bárbara accepted her award, much to her father's dismay, and told the audience that she was the third of three children. “My parents were expecting a boy, but then I was born,” she said with a smile. “And that girl wanted to break many boundaries and barriers. […] “Thank you Billboard for doing this for women. We still have a lot of barriers to break, but we're doing well,” she added.

For the second time, Billboard Mujeres en la Música also honored Karol G as Woman of the Year, Gloria Estefan as Legend, La India as Pioneer, Ángela Aguilar with the Musical Dynasty Award, Camila Cabello with the Global Impact Award, Kany Garcia as Spirit of Change and Kali Uchis as Rising Star.

The ceremony will air on Telemundo on Sunday at 9pm ET and will also be available on the Telemundo app and Peacock.

2024 Billboard Latino Women in Music A Celebration of True Sisterhood

Tears, parents, moving performances, and a whole lot of gratitude and respect for Gloria Estefan graced Billboard's second annual Latin Women in Music Gala in Miami on June 9.

Produced by Telemundo, the show, which aired Sunday night, honored such revered icons of Latin music as Gloria Estefan (Legend Award), salsa legend La India (Pioneer Award) and Mexican powerhouse Ana Bárbara (Lifetime Achievement Award), as well as Puerto Rican singer-songwriter Kany Garcia (Spirit of Change), Mexican phenom Ángela Aguilar (Musical Dynasty), Colombian chart-topper Kali Uchis (Rising Star) and this month's Billboard cover star Camila Cabello (Global Impact).

The show was pre-taped at Telemundo's Miami studios (with production helmed by Cisco Suarez and Macarena Moreno), and perhaps the intimate setting, combined with the entirely live performances, gave the night a sense of intimacy, camaraderie and affection that's rarely felt at larger awards ceremonies. As corny as it may sound.

“It's an honor to honour someone who has written their own story,” Mexican star María José said as she presented her with a lifetime achievement award earlier in the day. “Ana Bárbara is the epitome of someone who doesn't put the brakes on herself. I empathise with the strength and determination that led her to choose to be an artist and, above all, the woman that she is.”

This assessment could be applied to all the laureates in the room, all of whom have carved out their own paths. The youngest of the laureates, Ángela Aguilar, 20 years old and the daughter and granddaughter of such legends as Pepe Aguilar, Antonio Aguilar and Flor Silvestre, echoed the sentiment: “Between this great achievement and this great last name, I'm still searching for who I am.”

The night featured rare candor at various times, from new and veteran artists alike. An emotional singer and speaker, La India belted out “Ese Hombre” and the classic “Vivir Lo Nuestro,” before tearing up as she thanked icons Celia Cruz and the living Gloria Estefan and acknowledged that artists have their ups and downs. The night's first honoree, Ana Bárbara, admitted that during her first visit to Miami many years ago, she dreamed of meeting Estefan, the great door-opening star, who was presented with the Legend Award and sat and cheered on her peers throughout the night.

Garcia echoed that sentiment, saying, “It's nice to be here with women that I look up to. The first awards show I ever went to was with Gloria Estefan being honored, and seeing her sitting here is just one of the most beautiful things in the world.”

Parents were also a recurring theme throughout the night. Camila Cabello dedicated most of her speech to her mother. “When the world is suffering, […] My mom reminds me that there is love in this world. I love you, Mom. And I love you, Gloria Estefan.”

Meanwhile, Aguilar received kind words from his father, Pepe Aguilar, who is currently in Japan and sent him a video.

And at the end of the night, Karol G was presented with the Female of the Year award in absentia (she began her European tour that night) and it was accepted by her father, Guillermo Giraldo.

“Thank you Billboard and Telemundo for opening the doors to this girl who sang backup for this artist at age 5.” [Giraldo himself is an artist] Although she was unsuccessful, today she is recognized as Woman of the Year.”

After all, the night was a celebration of the doors that have opened as Billboard expands its “Woman of the Year” franchise into Latin territory.

“Thank you, Billboard, for doing this for women,” Ana Bárbara said when accepting her award. “We still have so many barriers to break, but we're doing great.”

Though the second annual Billboard Latin Women in Music has come to an end, we're still looking back at every moment of the gala, which aired on Sunday (June 9).

Kicking off the two-hour musical special was Mexican powerhouse singer and Lifetime Achievement Award recipient Ana Bárbara, who performed a captivating medley of songs including “Te Regalo la Lluvia,” “Los Caminos de la Vida,” “Qué Poca” and “La Trampa,” accompanied by a live band of 13 musicians and a troupe of fiery dancers.

Her performance set the tone for an extra special evening that also included the stage performances of the night's other honorees, including La India (Pioneer), Ángela Aguilar (Musical Dynasty), Kany Garcia (Spirit of Change) and Kali Uchis (Rising Star). Though they did not perform, Gloria Estefan, Camila Cabello and Karol G were also honored this year. Estefan was recognized as a Legend, Cabello with the Global Impact Award and Karol as Woman of the Year.

All the winners gave heartfelt speeches after receiving their awards, and Garcia was the first to take to the stage to speak after Tommy Torres presented her with the award.

“It's not enough to just sing and dance and have a good time,” she declared. “It's time to speak more. It's time to speak more and not just use the microphone to entertain. We as women have experienced such cruel and incredible disparities, and that's why we fight for the things that are so easy for us. And that's why, as women, I join hands with all of you sitting here to accept this award.” [is so important]. “

At the end of the show's second hour, Ángela Aguilar took the stage with pianist Arthur Hanlon to sing one of her father's most iconic songs, Pepe Aguilar's “Me Vas a Extrañar.”

Her father, Guillermo Giraldo, also known as Papa G, accepted the award on her behalf. “I want to thank each and every one of you, all my fans and my amazing team, because of them we are able to celebrate this amazing day,” he said before a video of Karol played.

“I think there's a part of me that is nostalgic about all these amazing things that are happening to me,” Karol continued. “They remind me of all the years of my career, the work, the effort, the obstacles, the closed doors, the ridicule, the sacrifices and the many tears and happiness. I always say people are afraid of the process, but the process is the most beautiful thing and the experiences it leaves you with.”
