Barry Manilow forced to cancel London show due to 'doctor's orders' – Music News

Barry Manilow was forced to cancel one of his farewell tour dates in London on doctor's advice.

The 80-year-old American music legend is in the midst of his “The Last Concert” tour, giving fans one last chance to see him live before he retires from the stage.

For his UK tour, the singer will take over London's iconic Palladium theatre where he has been performing since 23 May and is due to perform until 9 June.

However, his concert on Monday, May 27 was suddenly canceled, despite short notice to fans.

Just hours before the curtain was set to rise, an announcement was made: “Unfortunately, due to doctor's orders, Barry Manilow's concert tonight, May 27th, has no choice but to be canceled.”

Assuring fans they will be able to catch him in concert at a later date, the statement continued: “Please hold on to your tickets until we have finalized the rescheduling of tonight's performance. We are extremely sorry to have to make this announcement, but remain confident that tomorrow night's concert will go on as scheduled.”

The announcement sparked concern from fans, with many taking to social media to wish Barry a speedy recovery and urge him to take care of himself and rest.

However, the Copacabana singer doesn't seem interested in taking a break, repeatedly extending his farewell tour.

In March, he added nine more cities to his ongoing tour, including Austin, Tulsa and Kansas City, and his Radio City run was extended into April, meaning he will continue through mid-October.
