Angus and Julia Stone make it to Glastonbury – Music News

Angus and Julia Stone want to play Glastonbury.

The 'Big Jet Plane' hitmakers are yet to perform at Somerset's world-famous festival, but it's on their bucket list.

Speaking exclusively to BANG Showbiz, the brother-sister duo, who formed the folk-pop group in 2006, said: “Glastonbury is definitely on our bucket list. We'd love to go. It's such an iconic festival with an incredible history.”

The pair admit that, like other famous musical brothers such as former Oasis brothers Liam and Noel Gallagher, they have had their share of arguments, but say their love for music and respect for each other is too strong to let them get in the way of pursuing their dream careers.

They said: “At the end of the day, we really respect each other and understand that every relationship needs distance. It hasn't always been this way, but we love making music together so much that we have had to overcome other things in order to continue doing this. Over the years, we've learned to communicate and respect each other's perspectives. It's important to remember why we started making music together in the first place and keep the perspective that we are so lucky to be doing this.”

The pair returned with Cape Forestier, their first album in seven years, and admit they missed working together.

They said: “It's great to be back! It feels like coming home after a long journey. We've missed sharing our music and connecting with our fans and we needed the time away. We've always known the creative space would be great for us but yeah, it definitely felt like the time was right to get back together and play music.”

The LP features a cover of Bob Dylan's “I Want You,” and they hope to include a cover of a song by a folk music legend on a full album.

They said, “Of course! We've done a lot of covers over the years. We love reinterpreting songs and we think one day we could put together some of our favourite songs from all the songs we've ever done and make a really beautiful record.”

Angus and Julia Stone will play the Bristol Beacon and Royal Albert Hall on May 27th and 28th. Their new album, Cape Forestier, is out now via Play It Again Sam.
