These three finalists, chosen from a list of six semi-finalists (and before that, an initial list of 16), will each compete for the first video win of the year.
Ballerini will be hosting the 2024 CMT Music Awards, which will be broadcast live tonight at 8pm ET/PT on CBS from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas.
Previously (April 1): CMT announced the top six finalists for the 2024 CMT Music Awards Video of the Year category – Ashley McBride's “Light on in the Kitchen,” Cody Johnson's “The Painter,” Hardy's “Truck Bed,” Jelly Roll's “Need a Favor,” Kelsea Ballerini's “If You Go Down (I'm Goin' Down Too),” Laney Wilson's “Watermelon Moonshine”. All six artists will be competing for their first win in this coveted category.
The 16 nominees for this award were announced on March 13th. Fan voting on vote.cmt.com will further narrow down the list of six candidates. The top three candidates will be announced on the morning of Sunday April 7th by voting. It continues throughout that night's live show.
Ballerini will host the show, which will air on CBS from 8-11pm ET/PT on April 7th and be streamed live and on-demand on Paramount+. *CMT will broadcast an encore screening. Thursday, April 11th at 7pm ET/PT.
Last time (March 13): Jelly Roll, Laney Wilson, Cody Johnson, Kelsea Ballerini and Megan Moloney led the 2024 CMT Music Awards nominations with three nominations each. Last year, Jelly Roll was the most decorated artist of the night with three wins, but in 2022, Johnson took that honor with two wins.
Ballerini will return as solo host this year, leading the awards ceremony, which will be broadcast live on CBS from the Moody Center in Austin, Texas, on Sunday, April 7. The show is also available to stream live and on-demand via Paramount+.
Starting Wednesday, fans can vote for their favorites across nine categories by visiting vote.cmt.com until April 1st. Voting for this year's video will continue even after the live show ends.
This year, CMT will feature Amber Riley, Ashley Cooke, Bret Michaels, Chayce Beckham, Hozier, Koe Wetzel, Steven Wilson Jr., Tyler Childers, Warren Zuiders, Zach Bryan, and to name a few. For the first time, 14 of the four female artists who received the award were nominated. Members of this year's CMT Next Women of Country class: Ann Wilson, Ella Langley, The Castellos, and sister duo Tigali Gold.
The largest category, Video of the Year, had 16 nominees in the first round of voting, including first-time Video of the Year nominees Jelly Roll, Jordan Davis, and Parmalee.
