Rema, Steve Mac, Lost Boy and Daniel Pemberton are among the top winners at ASCAP London Celebrates, a private event taking place at The Shard in London on Tuesday (June 18).
British songwriter and producer Peter Rycroft (aka Lost Boy) has won four ASCAP Awards, including Songwriter of the Year. 2023 was a big year for Lost Boy, co-writing a string of hits including “10:35” for Tate McRae and Tiesto, and “Miracle” for Calvin Harris and Ellie Goulding (co-written by fellow award winner Pablo Bowman Navarro), which spent eight weeks at No. 1 on the Official UK Singles Chart; and “Padam Padam” for Kylie Minogue, which won him a Grammy for Best Pop Dance Recording. Each song earned him an ASCAP Award in the Hot Dance/Electronic Song category.
Rema is continuing his breakout year with the release of his fourth EP and a BRIT Award performance of “Calm Down” (nominated for Best International Song), which also earned him two ASCAP Awards for Song of the Year and Top Streaming Song for “Calm Down,” a track co-written by co-writers Michael “London” Hunter and Andre Vives. “Calm Down,” a collaboration with Selena Gomez, peaked at number three on the Billboard Hot 100.
Producer, songwriter and musician Steve Mac won Top Hot Dance/Electronic Song for “Baby Don't Hurt Me,” his collaboration with Anne-Marie, David Guetta and Koi LeRae.
Eddie Jenkins, Andy Sheldrake, Camden Cox and Heyla won Hot Dance/Electronic Song for “Where You Are” by John Summit & Heyla.
In the world of TV, film, and streaming, Daniel Pemberton's Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse was the top-grossing film of the year. Nominated for an Academy Award for Best Original Score, Pemberton's music draws on a variety of musical influences, including punk rock, electronic music, and traditional Indian instruments.
Julian Gyngell and Barry Stone won Best Network Series for the second year in a row for their American Idol theme song.
The award for 2024's top-grossing film will go to “Napoleon” composer Martin Phipps, “The Boogeyman” composer Patrick Johnson and “Wonka” composer Joby Talbot.
Paul Leonard Morgan won the award for best streaming movie for the true crime thriller “The Boston Strangler,” while top streaming series went to Ann Nikitin and Will Malone for Apple TV's “Hijack,” Natalie Holt for “Loki,” and Andrew Skeete and Nathan Kline for the Netflix documentary series “MH370: The Lost Plane.”
