Will Smith is set to perform new music at the 2024 BET Awards.
It was announced Monday that the actor and rapper will perform a new original song at Sunday's BET Awards.
“From starting out as a rapper with the Fresh Prince to becoming a box office king as one of the Bad Boys, Will Smith is truly a global icon, and we're honored to welcome him back to the BET Awards stage,” said Connie Orlando, executive vice president, specials, music programming and music strategy for BET. “We look forward to Will adding another dimension to a defining night of culture that you can't miss.”
The announcement comes about three months after Smith performed at Coachella in April with J Balvin wearing “Men in Black” costumes.
Although Smith is best known as an actor, he has released four studio albums during his career, including 2005's Lost and Found.
No details have been announced about upcoming shows, but according to Variety, a source has hinted that the star is working on a new album.
Taraji P. Henson will once again host the annual awards ceremony, and Usher will receive the BET Lifetime Achievement Award.
The event will also feature performances from artists such as Ice Spice, Lauryn Hill & YG Marley, Tyra, Ratt, Shaboozie and Victoria Monet.
Queen Latifah, Cardi B, Common, The Roots and Jungle Brothers are also scheduled to perform at the event.
Drake leads the BET Awards nominees with seven nominations.
