Will Smith debuts new song at BET Awards – Music News

Will Smith is set to perform new music at the 2024 BET Awards.

The “Fresh Prince of Bel-Air,” known for hits like “Gettin' Jiggy Wit It,” “Men in Black” and “Wild Wild West,” released “Get Lit” in 2017 but hasn't released an album since “Lost & Found” in 2005. That same year, he last attended the awards ceremony, which recognizes black entertainers and other minorities in music, film, sports and philanthropy.

Recently, “Loose Control” hitmaker Teddy Swims revealed that he's written a song with Will, but it's unclear if it's the song that will debut at the party.

While the “Door” singer has no idea what her working relationship with the 55-year-old Hollywood star and rapper will be, she is in a WhatsApp group with him and his mother, who is an avid fan.

Speaking to NME , Teddy said: “I don’t know what’s going to happen, I can’t say anything for sure, but it’s been great being with him and learning knowledge and wisdom from someone who’s been through it all.

“I was at his house trying to talk on FaceTime with his mother, who loves him.

“She didn't answer the phone, but he gave me his number and then texted me at 8am the next morning saying he could put us all in a group chat.”

The 31-year-old singer was full of praise for the “Men in Black” star, who caused controversy by slapping comedian Chris Rock, 59, at the 2022 Oscars, adding, “He's the sweetest guy ever.”
