With Truck Festival reaching its climax, Wet Legs undoubtedly stepped up to festival headliner status on the Saturday night of the festival, with Truck Festival marking their first ever UK festival headline set.
Taking to the stage in front of a crowd of 25,000 in Oxfordshire at 9.40pm, the highly anticipated show was emblematic of the band's rapid growth since breaking through in 2021. The Brit and Grammy Award-winning group from the Isle of Wight have been looking forward to performing at Truck Festival and it's the perfect stage to receive such an honour.
Testifying to the strength of their self-titled debut album, the set was well-crafted, covering all their iconic tracks such as 'Wet Dream', 'Being in Love' and 'Angelica', as well as incorporating a sensational rendition of Charli XCX's new single '360'. To round off the set in a memorable way, Truck's famously vibrant community came together in a confetti-filled frenzy at 'Chaise Lounge'. A fittingly satisfying end to a fun-filled day, it was a groundbreaking set that represented an exciting new era for Wet Leg, putting them comfortably on the path to joining the new generation of major UK festival headliners.
The weekend track saw countless standout performances from everyone on the bill, including established festival headliners, IDLES, who played a blistering opening night on Thursday, and the legendary Jamie T. On Friday and Saturday, Soft Play, Yard Act and Fat Dog kept the crowds going and the mosh pits going wilder. Keeping the family friendly festival atmosphere going, Sophie Ellis-Bextor, Declan McKenna and Peace entertained large crowds on the main stage, while the Market and Nest stages were filled with accomplished new artists throughout the day and night. Frank Turner made a surprise appearance on Saturday afternoon, filling the intimate V&V stage with a satisfying rendition of his well-known folk anthems.
The sun is shining brightly at Hill Farm on Truck Festival's final music day, with further highlights coming from a packed Sunday programme kicking off with Truck Festival favourites Oxford Symphony Orchestra and Barioke. Artists including The Streets, The Kooks, Bob Villain, Sea Girls, Black Honey and The Snuts promise a memorable evening.
