Shania Twain will host the 2024 People's Choice Country Awards, which will air live from Nashville's Grand Ole Opry House on Thursday, September 26. The two-hour show will air on NBC and Peacock at 8pm ET/PT.
“Country music has some of the most passionate fans in music and we artists are so lucky to have them support what we love,” Twain said in a statement. “I'm honored to host an awards ceremony honoring these incredible fans. Get ready for an unforgettable show with lots of big hair, glitz, rhinestones, hats, boots and amazing performances. Let's party!”
“Shania is a beloved member of the country music community with a proven track record of creating timeless music,” said Jen Neal, executive vice president, live events and specials, NBCUniversal Entertainment.
Twain is no stranger to the People's Choice Awards franchise: In December 2022, she received the People's Music Icon Award at the OG People's Choice Awards, an offshoot of the People's Choice Country Awards. She performed a medley of “Any Man of Mine,” “That Don't Impress Me Much,” “Waking Up Dreaming,” and “Man! I Feel Like a Woman!”
Little Big Town hosted the inaugural People's Choice Country Awards last year, where Toby Keith was presented with the Country Icon Award. Keith also performed for the first time since completing treatment for stomach cancer. The country music legend passed away just over four months later on February 5th.
Other performers at last year's show included Country Champion Award winner Wynonna Judd, Little Big Town, Blake Shelton (who presented the award to Keith), Carly Pearce, Dan + Shay, Hardy, Jelly Roll, Kane Brown and Kelsea Ballerini.
Jelly Roll won last year's show with four awards, followed by Morgan Wallen and Rainie Wilson, who each won three awards.
The broadcast was watched by 4.4 million viewers across all platforms, and the show's content reached 25 million cross-platform users (linear, digital and social).
This year's show will air just over a month before the 2024 Country Music Association Awards, which will be held in Nashville in November. CMA nominations are expected to be announced later this summer.
The People's Choice Country Awards is produced by Den of Thieves in association with Opry Entertainment Group. Jesse Ignjatovich, Evan Prager and Barb Biakowski serve as executive producers, and RAC Clark serves as executive producer and showrunner.
The OG People's Choice Awards premiered on CBS on March 3, 1975. The show aired on the network until 2017, before moving to E! in 2018. NBC joined in 2021, and Peacock in 2024.
