Kylie Minogue reflects on nine years at Hyde Park – Music News

Kylie Minogue became emotional as she reflected that “so much has happened” in the nine years since she last performed in London's Hyde Park.

The 56-year-old singer took to the stage at BST Hyde Park presented by American Express on Saturday night (13 July 2024) and was overcome with emotion by the sold-out crowd of 65,000, before fighting back tears.

After singing the title track from her latest album, Tension, Kylie told the crowd: “I knew you'd all be here tonight but it's still breathtaking. Thank you.”

“It truly feels like it's been nine years since I performed on this stage. A lot can happen in nine years, eight years, five years, one year, six months, one day. A lot has happened for me, for you all, for all of us.”

As well as performing tracks from Tension, including the global hit “Padam Padam,” the former Neighbours star took requests from the audience to perform “I Should Be So Lucky,” “Je Ne Sais Pas Pourquoi,” “Got To Be Certain,” “Step Back In Time” and “2 Hearts,” taking fans on a musical journey through his career, stretching all the way back to when he had just wrapped up his soap opera career.

Fans danced to classics such as “Spinning Around,” “The Loco-Motion,” “Wow” and “All the Lovers,” and Kylie handed out roses to a few lucky audience members before performing a short a cappella portion of her duet with Nick Cave, “Where the Wild Roses Grow.”

And the Australian pop star didn't do it all by himself, bringing Anitta, who had entertained the crowd with her own set at the Great Oak Stage earlier in the day, onto the stage to join her for “Can't Get You Out Of My Head,” and during the three-song encore, Tove Lo and Bebe Rexha joined him for their new collaboration, “My Oh My.”

She closed her set with “Love At First Sight,” with fans returning to sing “I Should Be So Lucky” as she left the packed venue.
