Earlier this month, the story of a terminally ill dog named Kygo went viral, with his owner saying it was a dream come true for the dog to meet his namesake, the Norwegian electronic music producer Kygo.

Following the story, DJ Kygo invited Kygo the dog (and his owner) to attend Kygo the Human's Palm Tree Music Festival in Southampton, New York on Saturday (June 22nd).

Luckily, the dog and his pals made it to the show in time, and the Kygo family met backstage for photos and a swag swap: DJ Kygo gifted the dog a Palm Tree Crew bandana, and the dog (and his owner) gifted him a “Kygo Crew” hat and a T-shirt with the dog's face on it.

“That's why I want a dog,” Kygo, his human, said during the meeting. “Just having someone to come home to is just pure joy.”

The story originally went viral after it was featured on dog-centric Instagram account The Dogist. The puppy at the center of the story is a 7-year-old husky, malamute, poodle and collie mix who was diagnosed with osteosarcoma, a type of bone cancer, after his owner said earlier this month that he “didn't have much longer to live.”

Dogist presenter Elias Weiss Friedman was also in attendance at the meet, posting that DJ Kygo “invited us all to his concert in Southampton to meet him before the show. It turned out that even though I didn't grow up with dogs, nor do I currently own one, Kygo completely understands the importance of dogs and what they mean to their owners. I'd like to thank Kygo for making Kygo the dog's second dream come true.”

The post also noted that the dog's owner, Kygo, received a $10,000 donation from the Brady Hunter Foundation, a non-profit organization that focuses on animal protection, to help pay for the dog's medical expenses.

The fourth Hamptons stop of Kygo's traveling Palm Tree Music Festival featured artists such as Swedish House Mafia, Sofi Tucker, Purple Disco Machine and Kygo himself. The producer's fifth studio album, Kygo, was released last Friday, June 21st.
