Katy Perry has revealed that her young daughter is the inspiration for her next single, “Lifetimes.”
The 39-year-old music superstar is already the proud mother of three-year-old daughter Daisy with her 47-year-old Lord of the Rings star fiancé Orlando Bloom.
It's been four years since Katy released her last album, Smile, and she suffered some serious humiliation when her comeback single, Woman's World, released two weeks ago, was a massive flop.
But now, she has explained how she took inspiration from her personal life to create a new song titled “Lifetimes.”
Katie told The Sun: “It's funny how sometimes you look for your soul mate in your partner – it could be your dog, your mum, your best friend, your cat – but for me it came in the form of Daisy.”
“I wrote ‘Lifetimes’ about her. Every night before I go to bed I say, ‘I love you,’ and then I ask, ‘Will you find me in every life?’ And she says, ‘Yes.’”
Katy added, “All this love that I was missing, all the mountains I climbed for this view, all this love. When she came into my life, it came to me. One day, if you go on this journey, you will find this love. It exists and it will exist for you.”
The Dark Horse singer faced backlash from fans when she released Woman's World earlier this month: the album was intended as a women's rights record, but was co-written and produced by accused rapist Dr. Luke and was panned for its copycat and uninspiring lyrics.
Her seventh studio album, “143,” is scheduled for release on September 20th, and her new single, “Lifetimes,” will be released on August 9th.
