In an interview with Germany's ZDF, the 36-year-old Adele made the shocking statement that she has “no plans for new music at all.” In fact, the star said she “doesn't like being famous,” adding that she “hopes for my big break after this and I'd like to do other creative things for a little while.”
Adele is scheduled to begin performing weekend shows in November 2022, concluding her run at the Colosseum at Caesars Palace with a final show on November 23. Before then, she will play a series of shows at a specially built 80,000-capacity venue in Munich on August 2, 3, 9, 10, 14, 16, 23, 24, 30 and 31.
She said she felt like she was “on empty in the tank” after playing 100 live shows over the past two years.
After announcing her first Munich show, Adele posted on Instagram: “A few months ago I got a call about a summer show. I had no other plans as I was happy with my Hyde Park show in London and a permanent residency in Las Vegas but I couldn't resist pursuing this idea: a one-off bespoke pop-up stadium designed around the show I wanted to do.”
The singer, who hasn't toured the world since promoting her album “25” in 2016-2017, is used to taking time for herself between albums and tours. Her absence from public view has grown over time, from three years between her debut album “19” in 2008 and “21” in 2011, to four years between her album “25” in 2015, and six years between that album and “30” in 2021.
In December, the mother of her 11-year-old son Angelo told The Hollywood Reporter, “I have nothing to say yet. I haven't even thought about it… I have to wait and see how it feels. When I get uncomfortable, I'll know I have to go to the studio. But right now, I'm more than uncomfortable.” Speaking of new ventures, in the same interview, Adele didn't name the movie she'd like to star in, but said, “The writer of the movie isn't ready to write yet… I nagging him about it sometimes, but he's not there yet. But that's the one role I want to do, because I absolutely think I could do it. I really, really, really think I could do it well.”
Then, at a Weekends show in January, Adele told the audience, “I don't think I'm going to make an album for a while,” hinting that once she does, she might be able to tour properly again. At the time of writing, Adele's publicist had not responded to Billboard's request for additional comment on her future plans.
