Janet Jackson jokingly asked a radio host to stop asking questions during a recent interview.

During a conversation on Wednesday's episode of “Heart Evenings with Dev Griffin,” the host asked the pop icon if he's tired of being asked the same questions.

Therefore, Janet candidly responded that she did not want to give any interviews at all.

“I don't mean to be rude, but I have to be honest,” she said. “Stop asking questions…”

“I've never thought I would make a good interview. I don't really like talking so I prefer to shut up and listen to other people. That's just how I've been,” the superstar added.

Janet ended the conversation by jokingly commenting, “Don't ask questions….are we done yet?”
The “That's the Way Love Goes” hitmakers are currently on their “Together Again” tour in North America.

Although Janet was reluctant to answer questions, she did say that her famous family and other iconic artists inspired her to get into the music industry.

“You have to leave out my family. Obviously it was my family that spoke to me first. I was so inspired by watching my brother, my sister and my cousin Stevie (Wonder) perform,” the 58-year-old said.

“My brothers used to take me to see them when they went to concerts, and I remember seeing Earth, Wind & Fire as a kid. It's an unforgettable memory. I'll never forget that. I was absolutely blown away by the musicianship and the whole body of work. I absolutely loved it.”

“Then I remember seeing Prince when I was in my early 20s,” she recalls, “and he was singing songs that I wasn't very familiar with, or he wasn't singing songs that I knew well, and I thought, 'If I'm going to perform at this level, I don't want to do that. I want to at least sing songs that people know well.'”

Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds star in Stray Kids' “Chk Chk Boom” music video

Stray Kids have released the music video for their new single “Chk Chk Boom,” starring Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds.

Stray Kids' music video for “Chk Chk Boom” will feature cable news network co-hosts Hugh Jackman and Ryan Reynolds as Marvel characters Wolverine and Deadpool.

In between comedy skits, the K-pop boy band performs their flashy new song on rooftop sets and city streets: “Boom, vamos, I know you want it / Boom, lobos, you can't stop the hunt / Boom, rattatat, I'll make it / Boom, boom, tinkle boom,” they sing in the song's chorus.

“Chk Chk Boom” is the lead single from Stray Kids' new mini-album “ATE,” which was also released today (July 19). The boy band has also announced a world tour in support of the new project, dubbed “dominATE,” with concerts in Asia, Europe, North America, and more from 2024 to 2025.

“ATE” is Stray Kids' second release of 2024, following their English single “Lose My Breath” with Charlie Puth. Speaking to NME about the song, group leader Bang Chan said the single is “one of those songs that can show a different side of Stray Kids.”

Stray Kids will also contribute an original song, “Slash,” to the soundtrack for the upcoming Marvel movie “Deadpool & Wolverine” later this month. The album also features hits from *NSYNC (“Bye Bye Bye”), Fergie (“Glamorous”) and the Goo Goo Dolls (“Iris”), among others.

'I wasn't supposed to be here tonight,' says Trump during Republican National Convention acceptance speech

President Trump opened his keynote speech on the final night of the Republican National Convention by acknowledging he was lucky to have survived the assassination attempt that took place at a rally in Pennsylvania last weekend.

“A lot of people have asked me what happened, so I'm going to tell you what happened,” Trump said Thursday night in Milwaukee, “and you'll never hear it from me twice, because it's too painful to tell.”

Trump was speaking about the shooting that occurred last Saturday in Butler, Pennsylvania, when a gunman identified as 20-year-old Thomas Matthew Crooks opened fire, striking the former president in the upper right ear as he turned to look at one of the immigration charts that were being shown on a screen at the event.

“I started to turn to the right to look at the charts, and I was about to turn further, but I shouldn't have, and then I heard a loud whoosh and felt something hit me hard in my right ear,” Trump said. “I said to myself, 'Whoa, what is that? That must be a bullet,' and I put my right hand to my ear and put it down, and my hand was covered in blood. There was blood everywhere. I immediately realized this was very serious, that I was under attack, and I just dropped to the ground.”

“There was blood everywhere, but in some way I felt very safe because God was on my side,” Trump continued. “The amazing thing is, if I hadn't moved my head at the last moment before he shot me, the assassin's bullet would have been perfectly on target and I wouldn't be here with you tonight.”

“But that's not why they didn't move. They knew I was in a serious situation, they saw the blood, they thought I was dead, and they just didn't want to leave me alone. You could see the love on their faces,” he said.

“I wasn't supposed to be here tonight,” Trump said, as the crowd at Fiserv Forum chanted, “Yes, you were supposed to be here.”

“It is by the grace of Almighty God that I am standing before you on this stage,” Trump said, “and as you've read in the news over the last few days, many are saying this was a providential moment.”

“The crowd was confused, they thought I was dead,” Trump said, “and there was so much sadness. I looked up and you could see it on their faces. They didn't know I was out there looking, and they thought it was over. When I realized that, I wanted to do something to let them know I was OK. I raised my right arm, and I looked at all these thousands and thousands of people waiting with bated breath, and I started yelling, 'Fight, fight, fight!'”

Trump won't use word 'Biden' even once in Republican convention speech, sources say

MILWAUKEE — Former President Trump frequently used the words “administration” and “current leadership” in his speech at the Republican National Convention, but a senior official said the former president never used the word “Biden.”

Trump is set to formally accept the Republican presidential nomination on Thursday, the final night and culminating moment of the 2024 party convention.

The former president's address to his party supporters and a national television audience inside the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee could last more than an hour, Fox News chief political anchor and editor of “Special Report with Bret Baier” said, according to sources.

Trump's speech came just five days after an assassination attempt that left a gunman dead and a spectator at a Trump rally in western Pennsylvania on Saturday, instantly changing the tone and message of the convention — and the former president's speech.

The speech will outline “the reasons for his nomination” and will focus on unity following his near-death experience last weekend, according to a source.

In an email to supporters the night before his speech, Trump said he would “share my vision for uniting our country and making it greater than it has ever been!”

The first three days of the convention were marked by a push for party unity, with former Republican presidential candidate and Trump rival in a fierce primary, Florida Governor Ron DeSantis, and former U.N. ambassador and South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley speaking from the podium in support of the former president.

Republicans are using the convention as a way to reunite the party and galvanize delegates and activists ahead of the final stretch of the campaign in which President Trump and President Biden face off again in 2024.

Trump's speech came as Biden's campaign pushed back against a series of reports over the past 24 hours that the president has become more open in recent days to listening to arguments about why he should not seek reelection in 2024.

“We don't know at this point who the nominee will be,” a Trump political source told Fox News.

Hours earlier, the Trump campaign had contrasted a “united” Republican Party at the convention with the recent turmoil surrounding Biden's reelection.

“What we've accomplished at this convention is to demonstrate to the American people that not only is the Republican Party united, but that President Trump's policies and agenda are firmly established and he has a vision that will unify the country,” a Trump campaign official said.

“At the same time, the Democrats haven't even thought about who their candidate should be,” the official claimed.

After his disastrous debate defeat against President Trump last month, the 81-year-old Biden is facing questions about whether he has the physical and mental strength to serve another four years in the world's toughest job.

Politically, Biden has resisted growing calls to stop campaigning from Democrats who are deeply concerned that Democrats could lose not only the White House but both houses of Congress in the fall elections.

Reports in the past 24 hours have said that senior Democrats, including Senate Majority Leader Chuck Schumer and former House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, have had frank discussions with Biden about ending his campaign.

And the Washington Post reported Thursday that former President Barack Obama has told allies in recent days that Biden's path to victory has narrowed significantly and that he believes the president should seriously reconsider his decision to continue running.

“Our campaign is not envisioning a scenario in which President Biden is not the front-runner. He is and will continue to be the Democratic nominee,” Biden's deputy campaign manager Quentin Fulks told reporters at a press conference near the Republican National Convention site on Thursday morning.

“Over the past four days, Republicans have offered a vision for the nation, and now it's clearer than ever that Americans face a stark choice, contrasting visions for this country,” Fulks said ahead of Trump's speech.

Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle faces pressure to resign following shooting at Trump rally

Sen. Kevin Cramer (R-Milwaukee) said his encounter with Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee on Wednesday night seemed more dramatic on video than it felt like it happened in person.

During the Republican National Convention, several lawmakers met with Cheatle to ask for an explanation for the Butler, Pennsylvania, shooting that nearly led to the assassination of former President Trump.

Kramer was a guest on Martha MacCallum's “The Story” on Thursday and was asked what he thought about the video of the incident that has been circulating on social media.

“First of all, this seems more dramatic than it felt like at the time, because at the time we were just trying to exercise a little bit of responsibility and shed light on a lot of questions that were being asked around the country and the world by someone who was supposed to have the answers but didn't,” Cramer said. “This is the first time I've actually seen this footage, so it didn't seem like such a big deal to me at the time because I experienced it firsthand.”

The senator said he gets annoyed when people stop and talk to him when they ask him questions, even in the Capitol hallways and in front of reporters.

Cramer was astonished that the person directly responsible for answering questions from Congress had not spoken to members of the Republican National Convention, who Cramer said were asking “the most obvious” and simple questions.

At one point, Cheatle even told the deputies to go to another room, which Cramer believed they would do, but she ran and evacuated the deputies to another room with her security team.

“This is a time when we really need her to step up and provide information to restore confidence in the Secret Service,” Cramer said.

NFL legend Lawrence Taylor arrested on sex-related charges

Pro Football Hall of Famer Lawrence Taylor turned himself in to a Florida prison on Wednesday to be charged as a sex offender in an incident earlier this month, court records show.

Taylor was charged with violating the sex offender law, a third-degree felony, for an incident that occurred on July 2 in Broward County.

Taylor's legal troubles were first reported by TMZ Sports. The 65-year-old former New York Giants star linebacker was released from jail early Thursday morning.

“My client, Lawrence Taylor, intends to plead not guilty to the recent charges,” Taylor's attorney, Mark English, told TMZ. “As with the previous case involving the same charges, Mr. Taylor did not knowingly commit a crime.”

“This situation is a serious misunderstanding. We are confident that once prosecutors consider the evidence that proves Mr. Taylor's innocence, he will again receive a favorable result.”

TMZ reported that the charges stemmed from failure to report a change of name or address.

According to the New York Post, Taylor pleaded guilty to sexual misconduct and using a prostitute in 2011 after he was accused of having a sexual relationship with a 16-year-old girl. Taylor said the girl told him she was 19 at the time.

Similar to this arrest, Taylor was arrested in 2021 for failing to report a change of address, which his lawyer at the time called a “confusion.” He pleaded not guilty to “residency restrictions for persons convicted of certain sex offenses,” according to TMZ.

Ashlee Simpson confirms return to music

Ashlee Simpson, who has been away from music since 2008's Bittersweet World, has confirmed that she is recording a new solo album.

Simpson, who is releasing a 20th anniversary edition of her debut album, Autobiography, on Friday, told Stereogum that she's currently “in the studio writing new songs.” When asked if it would result in an album, she revealed, “We're just working on it song by song right now and then we'll see.” However, she did hint that “I think it will eventually be an album.”

As for whether the album will have the same pop-punk-leaning sound as her previous albums, Simpson said, “I'm a grown-up now so it's a little more grown-up and I'm doing a lot more live music at the moment so I could always change direction, but I'm really happy with where I am right now,” adding that it has a “more fun, rock vibe.”

When asked who she'd like to collaborate with, the “Pieces of Me” singer said she'd love to work with classic artists like Alanis Morissette, Fiona Apple and Jewel. “But right now, I really love Chappelle. [Roan]She's amazing. I really love her whole album. [The Rise and Fall of a Midwest Princess],” she said.

She also addressed her lip-syncing fiasco on Saturday Night Live and shared the positive side of the embarrassing situation: “There was a lot of backlash, but I think a big part of what I've gone through is finding my strength within myself and within my fans who are so loyal to me, the fact that I was able to stand up and fight, and the fact that they all came to my shows because they saw what I was doing,” she said.

Simpson told Distractify magazine in March that his daughter, Jagger Snow, was what inspired him to get back into music.[She’s] “I'm really looking forward to doing music again,” she said. “My daughter wants to sing with me, so I'll definitely sing with her. [in the studio].”

It's been 16 years since Simpson last released a solo album, but she collaborated with her husband, Evan Ross, as a duo, releasing an EP under the name Ashley + Evan in 2018. Its release coincided with the run of a short-lived E! reality show of the same name.

Kanye West faces new copyright lawsuit – Music News

Kanye West is facing a new copyright lawsuit.

The rapper, also known as Ye, is being sued for allegedly being denied permission to use instrumental tracks from two of his songs.

The lawsuit, filed in Los Angeles on Wednesday, claims that Kanye illegally used elements of the song “MSD PT2” in the tracks “Moon” and “Hurricane,” both of which appear on his 2021 album Donda.

The lawsuit was filed by the company that owns the rights to the original song, and accuses Kanye of “stealing” it.

“This lawsuit isn't just about defendants' failure to pay their fees,” plaintiffs' attorney Oren Warshavsky said, via Billboard. “This is about the right of artists, musicians and songwriters to determine how their work is published and used.”

Warshawsky added that “intellectual property owners have the right to determine how their property is used and must be able to stop shameless infringers from simply stealing.”

The lawsuit also claims that Kanye, in a “blatant brazen move,” credited the original producers of MSD PT2 as lyricists despite them refusing a request to collaborate with him.

The lawsuit comes shortly after rapper Strong and fellow rapper Ty Dolla $ign settled a lawsuit filed by the Donna Summer estate for using Summer's 1977 song “I Feel Love” without permission in their track “Good (Don't Lie).”

Kanye has previously been sued over similar claims by rap group Boogie Down Productions, Marshall Jefferson and a Texas pastor.

The Weeknd Teases New Song and Next Chapter of 'After Hours' – Dawn FM

The Weeknd doesn't do anything by halves. A day after announcing a “never-before-seen” concert in Brazil in September, he dropped an elaborate video teaser of what his next project will look and sound like. It's the third and final chapter in his After Hours/Dawn FM/TBD trilogy. Last year, The Weeknd hinted to Variety that the trilogy would include a visual element, possibly a film. The new video concludes with the sentence, “There are three chapters to this story.”

The minute-plus clip, which he posted to his Instagram Story, is a surreal series of dreamlike images from the past four years of his music career. There are the poker themes, the red suits and sunglasses, and the sports cars he showed off in “Blinding Lights” and other videos from his 2020 smash hit album “After Hours,” then move on to the image of an old man from “Dawn FM,” then the hooded character from his “After Hours Til the Dawn” tour, and finally new elements. A character, presumably a mannequin, wears a mask that closely resembles his own face (he wore many masks on tour), and finally a character resembling him as a young boy, surrounded by a horde of white mannequins reaching out to him. Throughout, there's hazy music, mostly synthesizers and The Weeknd's focused vocals, a blurred remix of presumably new (and possibly old) material.

The clip ends with sunlight shining on the boy's head and grass and flowers growing and spreading, making the themes of death, salvation and rebirth quite clear.

In fact, this all ties into a vague hint he gave to Variety when he was interviewed primarily about his HBO series “Idol” in June 2023. When asked if there would be new music after “Idol” and the tour, he replied: “Yes, I think there will be new music.”

“I'm just finishing up this story, the third part of a trilogy,” he said. “The title will be announced very soon, but it's not the title that some of my fans are thinking of… The title that they're thinking of is actually a song on the album, but it's not the actual album title.” [It’s unclear which speculative title he’s referring to.] So I just say that.”

He dropped a few more little hints during the conversation but was coy when pressed for specific details.

Variety asked, “There's an album coming out, and apparently an accompanying film or video project, which seems to have themes of redemption, renewal and revitalization.”

After a long silence, he replied, “Well, I'm not going to answer any more questions about that!” (Laughs).

More is expected to be revealed at the concert on September 7 at Estadio Morumbis in São Paulo, which will be produced by Live Nation and will debut “never-before-seen material,” according to a statement. The Weeknd has been largely out of the public's attention since wrapping up his After Hours Till Dawn North American and European tour last year and appearing on The Idol last summer. His stadium tours have drawn more than three million people over the course of two years.

Democrats call on Biden to resign after debate disaster and coronavirus infection

Vice President Kamala Harris on Thursday criticized Project 2025, the conservative blueprint for a second Trump administration.

“The reason Trump hasn't spoken about this is because their agenda is extreme and divisive,” Harris told supporters in Fayetteville, referring to comments made by Sen. J.D. Vance of Ohio, Trump's running mate, at the Republican National Convention in Milwaukee. “You can't claim unity if you're pursuing policies that strip entire groups of Americans of fundamental freedoms, opportunity and dignity.”

Harris has been campaigning while President Biden has been on a campaign hiatus since testing positive for COVID-19 on Wednesday, and Biden has come under pressure from within his own party and major donors to withdraw from the race.

The 900-page document, “Project 2025,” was prepared by the conservative think tank Heritage Foundation and is not affiliated with the Trump campaign, and Trump has distanced himself from the proposal as Democrats try to paint it as unhelpful to him.

From reforming the Department of Justice and the FBI to tackling issues like abortion and immigration, efforts led by some of the nation's leading conservative think tanks are outlined in separate chapters for each agency.

“From what I've heard, it's not that they've gone too far, it's that they've gone too far,” Trump told Fox News' Harris Faulkner this week. “They really have gone too far.”

In a post on Truth Social, he called the plan “utterly ridiculous and terrible.”

“I know nothing about Project 2025, nor do I know who is behind it,” Trump wrote. “I don't agree with some of what they say, and some of what they say is completely ridiculous and disgusting. I wish them the best of luck in whatever they do, but I have no affiliation with them.”
