Ratt talks about rivalry with Ice Spice, admits everyone 'gets a bit of a jab in the music world' – Music News

The 25-year-old musician, real name Alyssa Michelle Stevens, has been caught in a supposed rivalry with fellow rapper Ice Spice, 24, in recent months, but ahead of the release of her EP Sugar Honey Iced Tea, she admitted that the lyrics she writes don't really have any meaning.

She told Billboard magazine, “If I were to do it, it'd only be with someone I wanted to retaliate against. I'm not really trying to be mean. Would she want to do that? I think she's just going along her own path. Everybody takes little jabs in music, but it's nothing too serious for me.”

The 'Sunday Service' hitmaker recalled that he first started rapping at the age of eight, and explained that there is a difference between his real self and the alter ego he uses for performances.

She said, “Who's Rat? That's a good question because I've always looked like Alyssa. Rat is Alyssa at work. Alyssa is just a 23-year-old Capricorn. Did I mention I'm 23? I'm not trying to lie about my age like that. I'm definitely 25, almost 26. I started rapping when I was like 8 years old, seriously.”

“I rapped about haters at school. My dad had a bunch of old cars and I think he picked me up from school in a candy-painted car. I think I was more confident when I was eight years old than I am now.”

“My sound right now feels very Southern. No offense, but I'm not a viral sensation.”

President Biden has not been seen in public since announcing he would not seek re-election and publishing a letter endorsing Vice President Harris as the Democratic nominee.

In a letter released Sunday, Biden said he believed it was “in the best interest of my party and the country for me to step down and focus on fulfilling the duties of my presidency for the remainder of my term,” adding that he would “speak to the American people in more detail about this decision later this week.”

Biden was at his home in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, at the time the letter was sent out on social media, but he had no scheduled public appearances that day, according to the president's public schedule. Same goes for Monday, when Biden is scheduled to hold his daily briefing at 10 a.m. ET, which is closed to the press, and he has no public events scheduled at this time.

The White House has not yet released details about Biden's schedule for the rest of the week.

Biden began self-isolating after reportedly testing positive for COVID-19 last week and was last seen in public on July 17, getting off a plane in Delaware.

In a letter Friday updating the 81-year-old Biden's health, the president's physician, Dr. Kevin O'Connor, wrote that Biden “completed his sixth dose of Paxlovid this morning.”

“Mr. Biden continues to experience a mild cough and hoarseness in his voice, but his condition continues to improve steadily,” O'Connor wrote in the letter released by the White House.

“Pulse, blood pressure, respiratory rate and temperature are completely normal,” the doctor said. “Oxygen saturation on room air continues to be excellent. Lungs are also clear.”

Doctors said Biden was infected with the KP.2.3 variant, which accounts for about 33.3% of new infections in the United States, according to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

“The President continues to tolerate his treatment well and will continue to receive Paxlobidi as planned,” the letter said. “He continues to perform all duties of his term as President.”

A person familiar with Biden's schedule confirmed to The Associated Press on Sunday that Biden plans to host Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu at the White House this week. The official, who spoke on condition of anonymity because he was not authorized to comment publicly, said the exact timing of the meeting has not been determined because Biden is recovering from COVID-19.

Netanyahu leaves for Washington DC on Monday to address Congress amid the uncertainty that has followed Biden's withdrawal from the presidential race. He is due to address Parliament on Wednesday and is also due to meet with Harris.

Before boarding the plane, Netanyahu emphasized the theme of Israeli bipartisanship in his speech, saying Israel would remain America's main ally in the Middle East “regardless of who the American people choose as their next president,” according to the Associated Press.

“In times of war and uncertainty, it is important that Israel's enemies know that America and Israel stand together,” he said.

Jimin's “Muse” is named this week's favorite new song

Jimin's muse topped this week's new music poll, which featured artists from a variety of genres.

Music fans picked the BTS star's second solo album as their favorite new song of the past week in a poll published on Friday (July 19) by Billboard.

Muse received 68% of the vote, beating out new releases from Stray Kids (Ate), Joe Jonas (Work It Out), Jade (Angel of My Dreams) and Childish Gambino (Bando Stone & The New World).

Jimin first announced “Muse” in June, with Big Hit Music saying in a statement that the album would showcase his “expanded musical spectrum.” “Following his first solo album, 'Face,' where he explored his true identity, 'Muse' documents his journey in search of his source of inspiration,” the release continued.

The project features collaborations with Loco and Sofia Carson, and the K-pop icon finds herself experimenting with bold new sounds and styles throughout. The set follows 2023's “Face,” which reached No. 2 on the Billboard 200.

Jimin made his solo debut in 2018 with the single “Promise.” Five years later, he became the first Korean solo artist to reach No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 chart with “Like Crazy.”

Muse is just one of the few projects Jimin is working on while he is enlisting in the South Korean military. All of BTS' band members are currently serving in the military, except for Jin, who completed his enlistment in June.

Jimin is also preparing for the release of “Are You Sure?!”, a documentary series that chronicles Jungkook's travels around his two friends' home countries, the US, and Japan.

Following Muse in this week's poll is Stray Kids' mini-album “Ate,” with 27 percent of the vote. The eight-member K-pop group released the project two months after the release of their Charlie Puth-featuring single “Lose My Breath.” The song is the group's third single of 2024.

Biden endorses Kamala Harris after dropping out of 2024 election

President Biden has endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris, who announced she would withdraw from running for reelection in 2024.

“My fellow Democrats, I have decided not to accept the nomination and to focus my efforts on the duties of your presidency for the remainder of my term,” Biden wrote on Twitter Sunday afternoon.

“My first decision as the party's nominee in 2020 was to select Kamala Harris as my vice president, and it was the best decision I ever made. Today I fully endorse and support Kamala to be our party's nominee this year. Democrats, it's time to unite and defeat Trump. Let's do it together,” he continued.

Biden announced he was dropping out of the presidential race just minutes before endorsing Harris.

“Serving as your President has been the greatest honor of my life, and while I intended to seek reelection, I believe it is in the best interest of my party and our country for me to step down and focus solely on fulfilling the duties of my presidency for the remainder of my term,” Biden said in the letter posted to X on Sunday afternoon.

Biden also said he would speak more to the public about his decision “later this week.” As of Sunday afternoon, Harris had not tweeted about Biden's withdrawal.

But early on Sunday morning, Biden's supporters and campaign officials stressed that the president would not withdraw from the race.

Lulu talks about hearing loss – Music News

Lulu opened up about her struggles with hearing loss.

The Scottish music icon opened up about his hearing loss during an appearance on “Good Morning Britain” on Friday.
Lulu's comments come as she prepares for her final live shows as part of her farewell tour titled “Champagne for Lulu.”

“If you're 75 years old, your hearing isn't as good as it used to be,” explains Lulu, who is 75. “But if you're in the rock and roll industry and you're a performer, a lot of them are… deaf!”

“They have no hearing at all,” she added.

Lulu then revealed that she had recently had her hearing tested.

“Yes, I have moderate hearing loss, but you know me, I hate not being able to hear people!” she said. “I want to hear everything, my music.”

The singer-songwriter recently teamed up with Specsavers and the Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) to promote hearing conservation.

“Having spent most of my life on stage, I was always aware of the harshness and muffled sound but never really paid it much attention,” she explained in a statement, via the Daily Record. “Music is the foundation of everything I do, so being able to still enjoy it is incredibly important to me.”

“When you wear a hearing aid, you can hear everything,” she added.

Elsewhere in the interview, the Shout hitmaker admitted that although the Champagne for Lulu tour will be his last, he's open to performing in the future.

“This won't be the last time I sing, this won't be the last time I perform, but touring the way I've done it… I'm 75 years old,” she explained.

Lulu announced the final tour during an appearance on the Rosebud with Giles Brandreth podcast in February.

“Actually, this — and I'm announcing this for the first time now — this is my farewell tour with family and friends,” she said.

“I had a bit of a tough tour last year but it worked out and I made it work, but these days you need a lot of people to be successful in your career.”

She added: “And I felt unsupported. But then I turned 75 and I thought, 'I want to keep working, but I want to do it in a different way.'”

Normani denies releasing fake music – Music News

Normani refuses to release music that doesn't represent her true self.

The former Fifth Harmony star took his time releasing his debut album, Dopamine, refusing to put his name on songs he didn't believe in due to past hurt experiences.

“I know what it's like to put out music that you don't necessarily believe in. It's tough when you feel like your voice isn't fully represented or when you have to stand for something you don't believe in, but I've been doing it for a long time,” she explained to Dazed magazine. “So I made a promise to myself that when the opportunity arises, I'm going to do it my way, and I'm not going to apologize for that.”

Normani was a member of the girl group Fifth Harmony from 2012 to 2018, and launched her solo career in 2019 with the hit single “Motivation.” Though the song was a huge success, the 28-year-old wasn't satisfied with her debut solo song because it didn't feel like her own personality.

“It felt so easy. It felt like the right thing to do, but it didn't necessarily feel authentic,” she said. “I knew it would work, but even with that knowledge, I thought it was just as important for me to feel represented. I really was like, 'OK, as long as everyone's happy…'”

She added, “When I first left the group, I didn't even really know who Normani was or what she sounded like. I needed some time to gain some life experiences and to challenge myself in the studio and not be afraid.”

After multiple delays, Normani finally released her debut solo album, Dopamine, in June.

Former ESPN star Keith Olbermann questions whether Trump was shot after former doctor's report

Former ESPN anchor Keith Olbermann wrote a critical post about Donald Trump's former doctor and the assassination attempt at one of Trump's campaign rallies last week.

Rep. Ronny Jackson, who served as the president's physician during the Trump administration, said in a statement Saturday that he examined the former president in Bedminster, New Jersey, last week.

Jackson said Trump was shot in the right ear by a high-powered rifle used by the assassin.

“The bullet wound caused a two-centimetre wide wound that reached the cartilage surface of the ear,” the doctor said. “There was significant bleeding initially, followed by significant swelling over the entire upper part of the ear. The swelling has since subsided and the wound has started to granulate and is healing properly.”

“The ear is densely vascularized, so there was intermittent bleeding and it needed to be bandaged. The wound itself was wide and blunt, so no stitches were needed.”

Olbermann responded critically to X.

“Simply put, Ronny Jackson is not a doctor. Trump was not hit by a bullet so that's perfect,” he wrote.

Trump, who wore a bandage over his right ear at the Republican National Convention earlier this week, recalled the injuries he sustained in an assassination attempt at a campaign rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. “I was hit by a bullet,” he said last week.

“If I hadn't moved my head at the last moment, the assassin's bullet would have been perfectly on target,” Trump said, “and I wouldn't be here tonight. We wouldn't be together.”

Olbermann is the latest to question Trump's injury, following similar comments from MSNBC host Joy Reid and tennis legend Martina Navratilova, who called Trump's ear bandage a “PR stunt.”
